What is going on with student loans?

Anonymous
How much did Bush, Dick Cheney, and the neocon's fake war in the Middle East with the fake WMDs cost taxpayers? Something like $8 trillion, right?

The PPP was a very unique payment since the government prevented people from working.

And, IT WAS PASSED BY CONGRESS.

This move is a unilateral move by Biden, no debate in Congress because he knows damn well it wouldn't pass.
It is neither popular nor a wise decision.

Agree. Governments basically shutting things down makes PPP and similar programs different conceptually. Businesses were forced into a situation by the choice of governments. Borrowers in the student loan program volunteered to take out their loans.

That said, we don't judge the value of policies based on what some other policies are or may have been. We judge policies on their individual merits... period.

The government literally sets the prices for the large majority of college students. No one had take PPP loans either.

Incredible that the White House official account is tweeting this crap.
Trying to draw a comparison between these two shows how desperate they are.

And, plenty of Democrats also took PPP money. Shall we start a list?

She is so, so bad at her job.

And, the fact that not one person in this administration can say how much this is going to cost (not even a range) or who is going to pay for it speaks volumes.
This is a vote buying ploy.
Can't wait until 2024.

You say that but...

Biden ran on this, this was one of his campaign promises. He already bought the votes.

I think the point is the hypocrisy, not the fact that they took loans.
Look, govt forgives loans all the time. We’re your panties in a twist about PPP loans forgiveness? If not, when then sit down.

That was during a pandemic. This happened after a pandemic. Completely different situations.

This will, however, turn off a lot of Independents who Democrats and Biden desperately need right now.

Speaking as an independent, I don't love this or hate it.

What I'll be voting for is abortion. Like so many others.

I'm an independent, and I'll be voting based on the debt repayment. I guess we all kind of have a slight lean one way or the other.

How lucky for you that "debt repayment" is the most pressing issue of your life right now. Mine is bodily autonomy, preserving our democracy, and leaving a planet that is livable for my children.

That's a lot for a little lady to handle.

Yes, so INSTEAD of financing insanely expensive “classes,” let’s make sure universities are gutted of admins, students services, fancy facilities. Bare-bones education focused university experience only.
Also, since tax payers are paying now- can we limit which majors are being funded? Why not? Some are absolutely better for the economy than others.

The best majors for the economy are electrician, plumber, carpenter, machinist, chip maker, truck driver, daycare worker, eldercare worker.

And, once again.... she is dreadfully bad at her job.

She didn't take out enough student loans to go to a school where she could be educated.

By cutting student services, you would be forcing the university experience to lose its focus on education, as students would have to divert their focus to seek these services elsewhere.

Why do people in college need services. They are their to learn, not to have services.
