This is exactly why there needs to be a Jewish state -- Israel. Because Jews were not ever safe in these Arab countries (or Iran).

There had been a Jewish community in Tunisia since 500 BC, more than 100,000 Jews in 1948, who suffered as second class citizens (dhimmi).

This is why they all fled to Israel once it was created. Because the Middle East and North Africa were not safe for Jews.

You think Jews are shocked or surprised or intimidated by Arab nations burning their synagogues and calling for their deaths?

It's what they expect. It only strengthens their resolve.

This is a profound disappointment. This is the behavior I would expect from President Trump. How can he look Palestinian-Americans in the face between this and that poor murdered child and claim he deserves their votes??

It's too bad Hamas is holding the Palestinian Americans hostage. In the videos, they look OK--all sitting at tables and chairs under awnings. I hope the Israeli American hostages also have comfort.

The State Department warns American citizens to not travel to Gaza and explicitly states that the US government cannot provide services to them in Gaza. I feel terribly for Palestinian Americans who have family in Gaza who cannot leave, and understand that the only way to see them is to travel to Gaza. On the other hand, people need to take responsibility for their own actions; they took trip to, or chose to live in, Gaza knowing the risk and warnings to have no expectations of USG help to leave.

Gaza – Do Not Travel

Do not travel due to terrorism, civil unrest, and armed conflict.

The U.S. government is unable to provide routine or emergency services to U.S. citizens in Gaza as U.S. government employees are prohibited from traveling there. Hamas, a U.S. government-designated foreign terrorist organization, controls the security infrastructure in Gaza. The security environment within Gaza and on its borders is dangerous and volatile. Sporadic mortar or rocket fire and corresponding Israeli military responses may occur at any time. During periods of unrest or armed conflict, the crossings between Gaza with Israel and Egypt may be closed.

If you decide to travel to Gaza:

Be prepared for an indefinite stay as the crossings between Gaza with Israel and Egypt can close without advance notice and for long periods during times of unrest and armed conflict.

Have a plan for entering and departing Gaza that does not rely on U.S. government assistance.

Every American citizen still in Israel made an explicit decision to remain there after a brutal terrorist attack— what’s their personal responsibility for their own actions?

There is a difference between places where the USG simply cannot reach, such as countries like North Korea, and places we are choosing not to reach such as Gaza. It is compounded by the fact that we are actively arming the people who— by their own admission — are bombing the areas they told American citizens to flee.

We are complicit in endangering American citizens and wherever you stand on this conflict that should disgust you.

That is not how it works. The travel advisory for Gaza before the attack was very clear. I have many military and State Department family members. Despite what we think, the Marines aren't always immediately coming to get us. Advice, follow travel advisories and register with the Embassy. I will say, compared to some situations I've seen Americans abroad in (like...the Israeli American hostages, some of whom are teenagers!), the Palestinian Americans by and large look like they are doing OK. They are in the shade, they have tables and chairs, I'm sure water is being passed around. I'd love for medicine etc to get through if they need it, but in general, I'd love to see some agreements and cooperation that would allow that stuff to start flowing for all the Palestinians. It is a great shame that Hamas invented a war crime and that all the people who could see to negotiations started ridiculously posturing and backing out of the talks that could begin that process. The Palestinian Americans stuck at cafe tables by the border crossing is on Hamas. Protest Hamas!

This is what happens when you let terrorists walk across your border and you respond by targeting refugees convoys and hospitals. Wait till the ground war starts. That will break Egypt neutral support for Israel. You think this is not going to be a sh#t show all through the ME. There will be a total realignment, minimum a few assassinations of heads of state(Saudi and Egypt) and it will not favor Israel.

Now let’s talk about those leftist democrats, BLM and students who support Palestinians. Oh they are so evil and the cause of all these problems for Israel! If only we can silence those people everything will be fine.

Tunisia is a mess. Has been for a long while. I am sorry for the loss of the Torah, but these days of rage are mostly ridiculous spectacle.

The way American Jews feel about Israelis being slaughtered by Hamas is exactly how Muslims around the world feel about Palestinians being slaughtered by Israel.
You don’t understand their pain? It’s the same pain a Jewish person is feeling right now

No, it's not the same exact thing. Muslims around the world lead DOZENS of their own countries and Muslims number in the BILLIONS.

Jews are an embattled minority who many governments have persecuted and tried to wipe off the face of the earth. There is ONE Jewish-led state, and there are about 16 million Jews in the world.

I will add I hope that none of these Palestinian Americans by the border uploaded photos to social media cheering Hamas actions or God forbid participating. That's all being collected and analyzed, and that would be a big "no-no". I have no doubt they would face serious consequences/prosecution if they did. Hopefully, they just laid low and condemned Hamas' actions in their hearts or even better, out loud voices.

Hamas is not the elected leadership for these American Citizens. They should be protesting their treatment by their government and it seems they finally are— their senators have asked the State Department to intervene, and at least one lawsuit against Blinken has been filed.

It is absolutely ridiculous to claim we “can’t” help these people. If you really have family where you say, you know that American Citizens are assisted in much less accessible places every day. Not helping these children is a choice.

And I have no idea where you’re getting your fantasy but the lawyers who filed reported the family and their young children do not, in fact, have drinking water.

If they participated they should be extradited to Israel for trial and punishments. But I feel confident the two month old infant was not participating.

Israel launched a surprise attack to butcher festival goers?

No, but they killed 200+ people from January-September 2023 in the West Bank and all of those killings were by surprise because the West Bank was not at war with Israel

Israel responds to terrorism. They don't sneak in with the goal of slaughtering as many people as possible for no reason other than the fact that people are a certain religion or race. They don't go house to house executing babies and children and grandmothers. They don't go house to house raping people. They don't go to festivals and gun as many people down as they can. They respond to terrorism. Jews will not go like lambs to the slaughter.. We did that once. We will never do it again. We are not victims. We have power now. And we will live and not be slaughter by a bunch of antiJewish haters.

Maybe the PP with his fantasies about picnic tables doesn’t care, but I think this needs to be repeated over and over to keep these people in the mind of the public and not glossed over by the news like that poor child in Chicago.

Whatever “side” of this conflict you’re on, if you’re an American and can watch American babies suffer thirst and wait for death from bombs you really need to soul search.

Lie. Israel does not respond. What , please inform me, was Israel responding to in the West Bank these past few years? Hamas is not in the West Bank.

What was killing a female journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh (a Christian Palestinian) a response to? What is killing third party journalists in general a response to?

Hamas is a great excuse to paint all Palestinians with but the truth is Israel was always a killing machine to Palestinians every weekend or so regardless of whether it is Hamas controlled Gaza or the West Bank.

This. I think there is a trove of photo and video documentation on many who participated. Big "no no"
