Why are goldendoodles so popular?

Anonymous
Everyone and their cousins seems to own mini and full sized golden doodles. Are they the new status symbol?

Everyone really wants a golden because they have been genetically engineered to be the perfect dog. But most people also don’t want clumps of hair all over their house and clothes or have allergies so they think a golden doodle is the perfect answer.
They seem to run about 50/50 on whether they get the sweet obedient golden temperament though.

Ugly dogs.

Allergies.

They don't shed and they are better for people with allergies.

My extended family has two. Both from the same mom and dad. One is smaller and more mild mannered (female). One is huge and wild. Nice, but just acts crazy (boy).

They are dumb dumb happy go lucky dogs for the most part, which is what the average dog owner wants. “No shed” is the in thing right now, so everything is being doodled.

Because they’re ADORABLE!! 😍

They’re generally very sweet and don’t shed like goldens.

We had a golden; couldn’t take that level of shedding in the house again. Now have a labradoodle, who is just as sweet and lovable as the golden with virtually no shedding.

I do not want one but we did exhaustive research and it was the only breed I could see that met our criteria.

No/minimal shedding.
Relatively easy to train.
No loud barking.
Doesn’t seem to be prone to major health issues.
On the smaller side (no massive poops, okay with a small yard)
Good with kids
Unnecessary to do a ton of grooming

I would really prefer a cuter breed but I think we are stuck with this one.

I have no idea, but everyone in arlington seems to have gotten one during Covid. They are ugly, stupid and full of energy.

What makes you think they’re more stupid than the average dog? The ones I know trained pretty easily.

No one here seems to have trained them. They can’t even control them. They just get pulled along by the big oafs.

What? I have a mini golden doodle and she is the smartest puppy I’ve ever seen. She learned her commands by the second week home!

They’re so ugly once they get big.
