New to Keto.
Today is day 7. Initially I gained 2 lbs the first few days and now I’m back at my starting weight. Definitely not consuming too many calories or carbs (under 25 carbs -not net carbs). I fast from 7-8 pm until about 10:30 am which I know is not as long as some. Maybe I’m just not waiting long enough but I’ve seen a drop in weight in a week with other diets and I haven’t dieted in years so I thought I’d lose water weight or something by now My keto strips say I’ve been in ketosis since day 3 which was the first time I checked. |

Who knows? Without more information, it’s difficult to answer.
What’s your age, height and current weight? If you’re a woman, where are you in your cycle? How much salt did you have yesterday? |

I have never done KETO but I have lost 25%-33% of my body weight twice in my life after slowly letting my weight get out of control. I've kept the weight off almost a decade now.
My reactions to what you posted are, first and foremost, I don't consider what you're doing "fasting" at all. I eat dinner at around 5:30pm and breakfast at around 8am. That's just a normal day for most people, isn't it - 14 hours between dinner and breakfast? And that's basically what you are doing too, just shifting everything back by an hour or two. Second, you just aren't going to lost much weight in 7 days. Water weight fluctuation will dwarf any actual weight lost. Running a caloric deficit of 3500 calories in 7 days means you cut out 500 calories each day, which is a lot, and you'd still only lose one pound of fat. You need to make sure you are truly CUTTING your caloric intake from your previous baseline (regardless of how much time you "fast") and think of weight loss as a long and slow process |
| This sounds terrible and miserable. Please stop this diet and get on something sustainable that actually works and won't distress your organs. Your kidneys and go system will thank you |
| 7 days is way too short and you need a calorie deficit to Ben on keto. It is very easy to overeat fatty foods. |
Meant to say you need a calorie deficit even on keto. |
| aside from your fasting window do you eat between meals? |
This. And you need to count *everything* you eat. |
+1000 Keto is the worst - both for health and in terms of long term weight loss success. |

I think if you don't have much weight to lose, and are older it can take a lot longer on Keto. Those stats where you see people lose a ton of water weight at the beginning are usually people who have a lot more weight to lose. So if this is you, OP that can be the case. I have been Paleo/lowcarb/keto for many years because I feel so much better and have healthier stats with mostly no sugars or grains. So even though I would have liked to lose 10 pounds, I was not necessarily doing it for weight loss. I think you can go too high fat too. I have found recently dialing back on fat, and being higher protein works better to help me maintain my weight and not gain. And cycling in carbs like potatoes or sweet potatoes especially when I'm ovulating or right before my cycle starts. So I'm constantly changing things around. I alternate higher fat days (on a day when I do cardio or weightlifting) and higher protein days (for days that I don't work out or do a lighter yoga workout). |
This isn't correct. In 7 days, men see lots of weight loss on keto. If OP is female, then she's probably not going to succeed with losing weight on a keto diet. Even for men, it tends to work less well after the first successful time dieting. |
| DCUM hates keto, OP. |
I love keto. If your strips are dark and actually working, then it’s a total conundrum. Keto is so effective for me. You should be not very hungry but now, OP, and better able to be eating salads vs bacon. |
| Where’s OP? 🤷🏻♀️ |
Yes, but so do most doctors, nutritionists, dieticians, personal trainers, and just about everyone in the health & fitness industry. |
