Pekarsky emailed Omeish that Brabrand “screwed up TJ and the Asians hate us.” Omeish responded that he was “just dumb and too white” to address the diversity deficit in FCPS properly.

Oh wow - does anyone know how the coalition got those texts?? That is not FOIA-able, right? Id like to get more....

Nope - she and the board are supposed to defend and help kids, not petition the Supreme Court. She owns this decision as much as any of them.

FCPS is a defendant in federal civil litigation brought on behalf of families challenging the change in the TJ admissions policy as a violation of their right to equal protection under the Constitution. FCPS had to turn the documents over during the pre-trial “discovery” phase of the lawsuit. The Coalition didn’t get these documents in response to a FOIA request.

That’s a stretch. What’s left for other students if FCPS just capitulates in civil litigation and pays out huge settlements to every plaintiff who is a current or former student? And this lawsuit arose from an alleged assault two years before Tholen was elected.

I guess what’s unclear from the article is what damages the plaintiff is seeking that can fairly be said to result from FCPS’s alleged failure to respond properly to a report, as opposed to from the assault itself. I don’t mind that FCPS is seeking to clarify its responsibility and not just subject itself to a potentially large jury verdict rendered by a jury that might be at least as confused.

If there were diversity of ideas on the board FCPS wouldn’t be such a mess. The diversity on the current School Board all thinks alike, with one exception (McLaughlin).

According to VPAP, Frisch has over $100K on hand and Cohen has $30K. So, I guess they both plan to run for something.
