They don't believe they are going to find her alive, but they have to say these things up until they know so as not to sad hopes or take away the urgency. They told people who have large piece of land to search their property. They're clearly looking for a body.

Hope is good! Look what happened with the missing Cleveland girls...ten years and found alive!

But in this case, they actually have the guy they think took her. Although there was a recent story about a woman who had been held captive for three months. So I guess you never know. Hoping for the best.

As much as I want to believe he's guilty, something doesn't seem right. On one hand people r calling him a big teddy bear, but then if you're innocent why go all the way to Texas. smh, even his dad has now come foward..... http://wtvr.com/2014/09/24/interview-with-dad-of-jesse-matthew-junior-abduction-suspect-in-hannah-graham-case/

Then Hannah walks down and the lurker jumps out like he was waiting for her then Jesse follows behind them. The lurker misled cops and said he saw a man that was bald. They are both creepy and seemed to be stalking her.

Yes, several of us said the same thing some pages back. How can one possibly mistake dreadlocks for a bald head?

Did he really say that, or the cops knew all along, but didn't want to mention the locks as not to scare him into hiding....

I agree with the part in bold but not necessarily that they were working together. I just think creepy dudes looking to exploit incapacitated young women are not as rare as we'd like them to be.

Did they reveal the forensics report? Do they need to release it at any point? I wonder with the timing of everything that it's just a tactic to get him to talk? Pretending that they have something on him to get him to share more details? Even if they can't really prove it.

I am not defending or supporting him, but it just seems odd how this is all being played out. And yes, too many L&O episodes.

Yup I don't trust that guy either!

JM seems to have two sides - the friendly, gentle giant side (the guy who visits his grandma and enjoys her home cooking). And the big guy with impulse/anger control issues (the guy who punched another driver in the face during a traffic altercation).

I'm afraid that Hannah may have met both sides of JM. Let's continue to hope and pray for her safe return. She seems like such a sweet, caring, intelligent and cherished young lady with a good head on her shoulders and an enormously bright future. Heartbreaking.

Ditto. I am hoping he hasn't hurt anybody and Hannah comes home alive.

They can't make him talk, he has a right to remain silent. He has experience with the criminal justice system and has a lawyer so I don't think he'll be talking. The way L&O has the police questioning a suspect with his lawyer sitting there never EVER happens.

They will have to give the defense a copy of the forensics report and all evidence. They do not have to make it public, except at trial.

Definitely too many L&O episodes. The police would rarely release forensics or indeed any valuable evidence at this point--they haven't even had a proper interrogation of the suspect and the collection of forensic evidence is far from complete without Hannah. There is an obligation to provide certain evidence to his counsel privately once this moves towards trial (if it ever does); otherwise, some evidence made not be made "public" other than as part of the prosecution's case at trial.

So they could be bluffing - or even blatantly lying to him - that they have evidence against him in order to pressure him to talk?

I hope the police are keeping tabs on that first lurker. His behavior was of someone stalking.

Galveston is basically an island. Definitely not on the direct route to Mexico.

He probably got lost on his way to Mexico

Not the sharpest tool in the shed -- cut off the dreads, pal.
