Best question I have seen. I bet a lot of families will be wondering this.

Will they? Who knows.
Should they? Absolutely.

They won't have the boundary set until July
Or later knowing fcps. Maybe on a case by case basis but a lot of kids switching would wreak havoc on staffing.

They have been allowing kids to switch to base schools, I would guess that they will allow kids to opt in. I would suggest doing to sooner rather then later because I have no idea what they will do when more kids want to opt in then they have space once the boundaries are set and others have the same idea.

Currently at McDaniel’s town hall meeting.

Skyview will get the Air Force JROTC program.

McDaniel joked that Navy Island would survive a nuclear war. He wanted to get rid of the island but it won't happen this time.

Many pro-Oakton/Crossfield parents showed uo and voiced strong support for Oakton and Scenario 2.

McDaniel doesn't have an issue not to apply freeze the walker mandate for Oak Hill kids under Scenario 1.

Marty confirmed that the final scenario will not be significantly different from the two revised scenarios.

After June 16, they will no longer accept comments from the boundary tool.

Kids in the boundary will take a bus from depot or closer bus stop if available.

I am listening to the Kyle McDaniel call and you guys, Crossfield parents are insane. I get that you guys want to stay at Oakton, but your arguments are laughable. You need better arguments.

Sad. And it’s infuriating how the school board completely disregards the negative impacts of these types of boundary changes.

It’s kind of a shit-show. They can’t really claim they’d leave Westfield at 74% because it was “too big” when they are leaving Oakton so large. They just make short-term decisions based on what they think they get away with and what will placate the loudest people with the most money. Money may not exchange hands, but it’s still corrupt.

100% agree there is a LOT of corruption. When a large block of people organize, the school board members think about that large block of votes and nothing else. Disgusting.

Wait, so you want the school board to ignore the community? Talk about disgusting.

No, what's disgusting is the amount of people who are just concerned about athletics and the socioeconomic status of their children's classmates.

DP. Obviously some people have more time and resources to work the system to their advantage. The School Board should be serving the entire community and not just deferring to the wishes of the loudest.

I think what the RIO parents need to recognize is that just because they're loud and they show up to all the meetings doesn't mean they represent the entire community. Kyle said that he's received a lot of support for the Skyview move from Crossfield families.

He didn’t say that…he said he's received a lot of messages from Crossfield parents who want to stay at Oakton but he’s also received some from those who prefer Skyview. Some does not equal a lot.

I'm tired of the Crossfield people taking up all the oxygen. Thousands of kids at a dozen schools are being affected by this situation.

Did he say anything about hollowing out Westfield and why they didn't zone more neighborhoods there?

The people speaking up at all the meetings are annoying to deal with everywhere. They’re the type to bark orders at other grown adults volunteering their time, and be snarky if other parents aren’t as “in the know” on the very specific way they want things done. Like any of it even matters that much.

Agree on the Crossfield people. FCPS needs to grow a spine.

Sports is a huge part of the american high school experience. This shouldn't be a surprise unless one grew up outside the US educational system.
People spend lots of money to distance themselves from certain problems that result in underprivledged communities. Obviously people want to do what is best for their kids and their wallet.
