SYC MLS Next

I saw they got all age groups. Will this be under Virginia Union like ECNL?

No, separate. ECNL has their own tryouts.

Virginia Union is for the alliance between SYC and MYS.

For MLS Next you have to do regular SYC tryouts and make their top team.

This seems to render the partnership meaningless for the boys.

Looks to be over before it started. The push back to ECNL has started.

Don't quite understand what you mean by "push back to ECNL"?

McLean just got screwed over by SYC. There’s no way SYC will funnel their best players to this Virginia Union FC concoction now that they have MLS full pathway. HILARIOUS. McLean deserves it. They will lose ECNL because of low performance or be relegated to the regional league. Good riddance.

Where did you see it announce that SYC has full MLSNext?

Why would SYC not share the path to MLS Next for the boys, as McLean is doing for the girls?

Announced on their social media accounts.

It is just a question of who is likely to make those teams. SYC also has players coming in from other areas for those teams as well.

Because the “sharing” is just through the alliance and the creation of Virginia Union and only for ECNL.
Both clubs were clear that the clubs will keep their separate identities and run separately outside of that... SYC will of course keep their best players for MLS Next. SYC probably applied for full pathway not knowing if they’d get approved. They wanted to have something to offer U15 and older and did the alliance with McLean so they could offer ECNL. All SYC will throw McLean’s way now are second tier players.

Well that's the thing with all of these alliances. What does "alliance" really mean when really any qualified player can come in a try for a spot? Very little really beyond optics.

I wonder if McLean will pull out now (or just not take SYC players or use SYC coaches for ECNL). It seems like they gain nothing from this alliance

Alexandria also has all ages for mls next, which you can see in their link to tryout registration. Anybody know if anybody else like Achilles got all ages? I know Bethesda and Armour already have them.
