Destroying things and grift is mostly what he knows and does.

But he'd rather be adored by everyone than thought a failure by more than half the population. He doesn't like the poll numbers. It's obvious.

I really don’t think he cares. As long as he can stay out of jail, he’s fine with low approval.

I agree. He'd love to have all three:

1. Not in prison
2. Grifting
3. Actually being a popular President

But #3 is of least importance. And it's possible he really believes he's the most successful and popular President ever. He has a personality disorder.

But the low polls do bug him. He finds them unfair and they make him sad and mad.

He might care but Republicans in Congress care. If it looks like it’s gonna be a wipeout in 2026, especially in the Senate, then impeachment and removal is a possibility.

Can we possibly be that lucky?

You need 2/3 to remove in the Senate, and that will never happen.

Let's see what approval polls look like with bare shelves at the grocery store and other stores and no back to school clothes and no toys for Christmas.

Trump’s approval rating among low-engagement voters has fallen 30 points since Jan, the worst decline for any group. The GOP’s big advantage with hard-to-reach voters has evaporated as economic turmoil & toxic politics turns them away from Trump

Cook’s newly launched poll tracker found that Trump’s net job-approval rating had plummeted just since April 15, dropping by seven points from -3.9 percent to -10.7 percent. The most dramatic shifts were witnessed in the aforementioned groups: For 18- to 29-year-old voters, Trump’s approval dropped by -11.8 points. The president lost Latinos by 10.4 points, and independents soured on Trump by 7.9 points.

My prediction: Administration will cave on tariffs before August and claim “victory” in negotiations. MAGA will lap it up and will forget the subject September and certainly by Christmas.

Claiming victory won't change the disruption in supply chains, which has already started and will take 6-9 months to re-start again. And that re-starting will come with the same inflation shock that we had in 2021-2022, with the difference being that the rest of the world won't have the same issue.

I think you are right on all your predictions. The only thing you omitted was the high probability that Trump will somehow blame all of this on Biden.

I hadn't considered the back to school clothes!
There will be a lot of parental angst in that respect

Once prices go up, they rarely go down (except in real estate during the great recession).

Did prices fall after Covid?

They won't fall after the tariff fiasco. We all will have to eat less, drive less, travel less. Except the uber rich. They will do fine.

I have been buying work clothes because almost all clothing and shoes are made abroad now.

I expect prices of work clothes will double in the coming months.
