That’s the only polling I need. Women are fighting this fight, while the white men are bloviate or cowering.

Or maybe people are tired of listening to cranky old women yelling at them.

Oh yes, the sexism and ageism too. I’d like to lose my job and freedom in protest.

The scene you describe explains Trump’s victory entirely. One loudmouth liberal convinces a restaurant full of people to quietly vote for the other side.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2025/02/09/trumps-approval-rating-at-53-in-new-poll-but-americans-are-less-sure-about-elon-musk/

Americans held a 53% approval rating for Trump, according to the poll, which was conducted Feb. 5-7, while an overwhelming 70% agreed he is doing in office what he promised on the campaign trail.

Same poll: Half of Americans think Elon Musk should have little to no control of the gov. and 28% think DOGE should only have only some power. 56-62% disapprove of trump’s plan to put tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and Europe. 13% of Americans like Trump’s Gaza idea. 66% of Americans think Trump isn’t doing enough to lower prices and only 53% of republicans surveyed actually think he’ll lower prices in the end. Sounds kind of bleak once you read past the headline.

Different poll, morning consult, found Trump’s approval rating slipped three points after the first week from 52% to 49%. Pew had his approval rating at 47% in first week and it was probably lower last week.

DOGE is a huge liability and the bill that will come out of cloture will add trillions to our debt and cut social safety net programs that are broadly popular.

They're historically low for a new President.

All recent presidents have had lower ratings than they used to be because we are such a divided nation. We aren’t going back the days of Reagan’s 70 percent approval.

This shows a +4.8% net favorable rating. A lot of people just didn’t care either way, which is why it’s roughly 48-43 in his favor and doesn’t add up to 100%.

In either case, from the posts on here you would think his actions since taking office would have tanked his approval ratings. They’re not tanking at all relative to where he was on Inauguration Day.

Give it a few more weeks or months...

This. We just need to give time to let the ripple effect play out.

47 percent is strong. Biden had an average 37 percent, and only 31 percent approve of Democrats.

44 percent approve of deporting all illegal immigrants vs 39 percent who say they only want violent criminals deported.

60 percent approve of troops going to the border with Mexico.

It is not strong at this point in his presidency, especially if you compare it to Biden's approval at this point in his presidency.

Biden’s average approval was lower and he didn’t come in to his second term with a mandate either. Trump is doing just fine.

This is funny.

And the total opposite of what he claims.

What a loser!

Most of the country has no connection to DC and don't really have the full awareness to understand the full implications of shutting down all these agencies. That will take some time for them to understand.

Alternatively, most of the DC community has no connection to the rest of the country which sees the downsizing of government and reduction of waste as a good thing. That disconnect in goals will take some time for DC fed workers to understand.

That’s right out of the abuser’s playbook. “Look what you made me do! If you had just been a good girl and kept your mouth shut, I wouldn’t have been forced to hurt you.”

People who don’t like to hear a woman speaking in public were always going to vote for Trump. Nobody’s suddenly switching sides in this scenario who wasn’t MAGA all along.

I mean, exactly. They'll be all for it until their SS check or IRS refund bounces.

47 percent is historically bad. Trump left office with a 34% approval rating, and he's committed to getting there again with his poor start.

Middle America hates the Feds. For good reason.
