Amy Cooper, the woman calling the police, has been fired from her from her job as a head of insurance portfolio management at Franklin Templeton, for racism.
Good for Franklin Templeton for dealing with this quickly and decisively! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/26/nyregion/amy-cooper-dog-central-park.html?searchResultPosition=3 She's no relation to the guy she called the cops on, Chris Cooper, who is on the board of the NYC Audubon Society. Also, as an aside, the article says Amy Cooper gave the spaniel back to the adoption agency where she had gotten him, after Instagram sleuths dug up multiple pictures of abuse the dog had suffered at her hands. |
Does it matter? Yes, unleashed dogs disrupt birds. But she was breaking the law. He's in the right and she's in the wrong. |
Maybe after the pandemic is over. |
You're failing to understand that people aren't psychic. I don't care if you think your dog is "friendly" or not - keep it under your control. Keep it leashed. I'm not waiting to find out whether your dog is "aggressive" (jumping on others = aggressive, in my opinion), before I take matters into my own hands. Obey the law. Leash your dog. So simple - even a simpleton should be able to understand this. |

It is so stupid that this whole incident even happened although I don't know that anyone has seen the initial part.
Here is how is could have gone: "Dogs are supposed to be on a leash in the Ramble, would you please leash your dog?" "sorry, sure" She could have kept her dog and her job. He could have enjoyed a Memorial Day birding. |
DP. He didn't behave wrongly. He saw somebody breaking the law with her dog off the leash. He told her he was going to throw some treats out, so she'd want to leash her dog. How is that wrong or threatening? 'Fess up, you're unhappy that he recorded her yelling at him, baiting him about calling the police, and then calling the police with a fabrication about how he was "threatening" her. |
You are right, racism complicates simple situations. |
Yes, the gentleman is a board member of the New York City Audubon Society. National Audubon Society protects birds and the places they need. He was doing his job. BTW, if you ever see a dog off a leash, animal control would like you to video tape it for evidence so they can ticket the person breaking the law. |
| Are y'all the same people who want to know what a woman was wearing and why she was out when she was raped so you can discern if it both parties were at fault? Cuz geez you all would get along great! |
|
Woman loses her dog loses her job but gets the guy. It would be a great rom com if they got to know each other and got together and got married!
They could go bird watching together with their dogs. Love is color blind. And has the same last name! It is meant to be. Jennifer Aniston could star in the movie. |
DP- confuses what did he do wrong? Call out someone for breaking the law? Didn’t realize that when You call the police to stop a robbery in progress you’re also doing something wrong. Thanks for clarifying Karen. |
My kids are afraid of dogs because some loser couldn’t be bothered to leash them. A dog jumped on them and knocked them down. The dog owner yelled at me because I dared to have my kids outside the house I guess. My kids are how terrified of dogs. I always ask people to leash their dogs politely. Always. And I’d say the majority of the time we get eye rolls or they hold on to the collar until we go home, or they flat out ignore us. If they ignore us we have to leave. Not sure why it’s okay to give these losers a pass. I don’t like your dogs. I went to this park specifically bc unleashed dogs aren’t allowed. Why is it okay for them to break the law? |

Ok, she's racist and a drama queen, no doubt.
BUT THE REAL PROBLEM IS POLICE KILLING INNOCENT BLACK MEN. Her actions were ugly but they shouldn't be equated to killing someone. |
If you don’t leash your dog, you’re abusing your dog. Dogs don’t like to be in crowded areas off leash. You’re putting the dog in danger. Just leash your dog. |
Also leash your dogs. |
