Nobody gives a shit that you lived in NY for 15 years and about your made up rules. He didn’t break any actual laws by videotaping her or offering her unleashed dog treats. She broke the law by having her dog unleashed and refusing to leash it after he told her to. That unleashed dog was a risk to public safety, and could have attacked him or anyone else. She just made the situation worse by bringing up his race to the police knowing that he’s filming her. When you idiotically display unlawful, aggressive and racist behavior on camera in this day and age, you get flamed, lose your job, etc. Too bad.

He did not have poison dog treats. He did not in any way threaten to poison her dog.
He did have dog treats -- and he has discussed this.
Many people in this thread have hyperventilated about "but they could have been poisoned" and used this falsehood to justify all kinds of craziness -- instead of noting that had the woman leashed her dog as she was required to do in that particular area, none of their imaginative "but what if..." scenarios would be an issue.

So, are any of the "both sides did something wrong", "he baited her", "he started it", "he was wrong to videotape her" posters black? That all sounds to me like white privilege speaking. I can't imagine any black American who has been watching the media for the last few years and all of the increased violence and abuse of black victims would think that he baited her or that he was wrong for protecting himself by videotaping a crazy person who might, just might threaten him like she did and then lie about it. It happens to many times now that it is very commonplace to see such videos on Youtube. Look for Pool Patrol Paula, BBQ Becky, Permit Patty and many more. The number of closet racists that are out there is just amazing. And they are only emboldened by the current administration which is institutionalizing white supremacy and bigotry.

My kids are black and we have talked a lot about this. Both said they would have walked away when Karen revealed her crazy (as in as soon as she refused his request). She’s awful and deserves what happened to her. We applaud him for standing up for himself and the leash laws. But also recognize that he egged her on a little.
