It's not their job, I know, but it would be nice if someone in this whole sordid mess tried to do right by these kids.

I agree. While I highly doubt it, I hope some Lewis admins or boosters are reading this.

Right, they’re going to take some extra during a halftime, while they are down about 50-0 to recognize Hayfields seniors. Fat chance.

Our football program would NEVER have a senior night without including band, cheer, flag, dance. What trashy people.

He didn't fire a coach who had been a perennial loser and was a terrible coach. He decided to fire a coach who had won the last three (3) National District football titles.

But that wasn’t good enough, because it is about being the best and doing whatever it takes to be the best. And whatever it took was hiring a coach who has been investigated throughout his career for recruiting, because he had won the last two state championships.

The result is a scandal (no matter the result of this appeal) that will follow Hayfield and its football team for years to come. Hayfield will do whatever it takes to win... even break the RECRUITING/PROSELYTIZING rules as described in the VHSL Handbook.

Hayfield's reputation will be in the toilet as long as the current principal, who bears a good measure of responsibility for this debacle, remains in charge, but once he's gone they can move forward.

Hopefully the VHSL investigation uncovers enough to get the principal (and even better Reid) removed

Why not? It's an opportunity for adults to do the right thing, which apparently almost every adult involved in this situation have declined to do again and again.

Look, the football team at my kids' high school has also been on the wrong end of those lopsided scores. We've talked at home about how you conduct yourself, regardless of the scoreboard or your win-loss record. If we were Hayfield's last game, I would wholeheartedly support doing right by a bunch of cheerleaders, dance team kids, and band kids who had nothing to do with this mess.

I’m gonna hope that dr. Smith will do this and Mr. Jones will do this

But I also don’t expect it of them, your last game in any sport at your home is supposed to be about your team and your athletes.

It would show remarkable respect and between one school and another as well as really just show remarkable respect for students and what they’ve worked for.

All that said, I think it would just show some really genuine positivity and if Lewis did that I hope that the hayfield community would fully appreciate it.

There is just too much hate in this situation. A bunch of bitter Karens didn’t like the way Hayfield has been blowing teams out, just couldn’t get over it, and kept complaining. They hate Overton, the kids on his team, the cheerleaders, the dance team, the band, and everything associated with Hayfield.

The VHSL is probably just as tired of hearing about Hayfield and decided to take action just so the jealous Karens would stfu.

Best to use another name. Overton’s #1 fan is Apostle Karen. She is at every game and posts non stop positive posts about him. So actually the Karens love him.

Krazy Karen is so over the top that if this was a movie, her character would not be believable.

Did Overton crew post anything new on social media today or are they all unprecedentedly quiet?

Her name may really be Karen, but the haters are just Karen’s.

White male posting here. The odds were already stacked against Overton. A black man ostentatiously moving to Fairfax County from a location that most Fairfax residents deem inferior. Trying to cheat the system by unethically bringing young (almost exclusively black) men who are stronger, faster, bigger than the average Fairfax County high school football player. The nail in the coffin was running up the score and not conducting himself with dignity and respect. Could a white coach have pulled this off? Most likely not. But because Overton is black it is easy to play the race card instead of objectively evaluating the circumstances.

Do cheer, flag, and marching band members typically travel for away games? I thought cheerleaders traveled, but not the marching band or color guard.

So who is everyone voting for tomorrow? Hayfield or VHSL?

I’ll play. VHSL.
