I’m sure 99% of the Hayfield haters will vote the opposite of Hayfield’s colors.

Never hated Hayfield. Kinda like orange. I’m voting for fair play.

I read above poster to say VHSL focus will be on the coach and school and not the kids, but kids will of course still feel the sting if cannot go to playoffs for 2 years. Sounds like all the band, dance and other seniors already stung by being shut out of recognition night.

Prediction if school 2 year post season ban not appealed: Overton will shop himself to a new school outside of FCPS for next fall. Kids will follow.

He’s not staying at Hayfield in the aftermath of a scandal. If this sticks, Overton is gone and so is the athletic director.

And where is the principal and athletic director in all this?!?! How have they not stepped up and made comments about this mess? I have seen the head coach and assistant coaches (and parents/community) all over social media defending their position. But no word from the principal and athletic director? Come on man! Be a leader!!

This is FCPS...

That’s the wrong Overton. This isn’t the head coach.

All I have to say is everyone in this area knew this shady crap was going on. Even at Freedom. When VHSL upholds the ban I hope all them so called coaches and everyone with direct knowledge gets fired.

It's not their job, I know, but it would be nice if someone in this whole sordid mess tried to do right by these kids.

I agree. While I highly doubt it, I hope some Lewis admins or boosters are reading this.

Right, they’re going to take some extra during a halftime, while they are down about 50-0 to recognize Hayfields seniors. Fat chance.

Why not? It's an opportunity for adults to do the right thing, which apparently almost every adult involved in this situation have declined to do again and again.

Look, the football team at my kids' high school has also been on the wrong end of those lopsided scores. We've talked at home about how you conduct yourself, regardless of the scoreboard or your win-loss record. If we were Hayfield's last game, I would wholeheartedly support doing right by a bunch of cheerleaders, dance team kids, and band kids who had nothing to do with this mess.

There is just too much hate in this situation. A bunch of bitter Karens didn’t like the way Hayfield has been blowing teams out, just couldn’t get over it, and kept complaining. They hate Overton, the kids on his team, the cheerleaders, the dance team, the band, and everything associated with Hayfield.

The VHSL is probably just as tired of hearing about Hayfield and decided to take action just so the jealous Karens would stfu.

Best to use another name. Overton’s #1 fan is Apostle Karen. She is at every game and posts non stop positive posts about him. So actually the Karens love him.

Her name may really be Karen, but the haters are just Karen’s.

And everyone trying to justify this crap are clowns.

Par for the course and those who control the VHSL are also Orangers’. If Overton has done anything questionable, he’s finished with the final say in their hands.

Arrogance

Hayfield Band Sr Night was supposed to be at the Justice game, during the regular season, which was unexpectedly moved to a Wednesday at the last minute. This was the last regular season home game. A lot of Seniors in the band had conflicts for Wed. night, so it was moved to the first playoff game.

Band travels for away games, but they play in the stands rather than march on the field. They also usually have time to connect and bond with the other team’s band members.

Every other year at Hayfield, the football team and Band/Cheer/Dance/Flag kids were all recognized on the same night. Why were the football players recognized at the Homecoming game and everyone else moved to a different night?

It's the new winning culture. The players are the winners and need to be celebrated. This debacle should get the coach athletic director and the principal fired. I'd add Reid to the list for her coverup 'investigation'

Look they didn’t fire Braband over covid. They certainly aren’t going to fire Reid over it here. The way I hear it from hayfield scuttlebutt is likely nothing will happen to principal or DSA. I imagine overton will resign after the season, if vhsl upholds he’ll probably coach the last game and already has his letter ready. If vhsl lets them play, he’ll coach until they lose in the playoffs then I think he walks. Honestly, his best move is to walk away simply because everything he does anywhere in Virginia is going to by hugely scrutinized. He could probably coach in Maryland next season but the smart move would be to not coach next season, run private 7on7 camps and then take an MD, DC, or private school job in Fall 2026. That way he gets some distance from everything while the heat dies down

You never answered the question about all the private school and DC kids and where they resided last spring.

You can deny racism/white supremacy all you want, but it is a part of the equation.

LOL. No. There is nothing racist about expecting someone to follow the rules.

Right, he probably could have gotten away with it had he not made the dramatic changes at such scale and in such a short amount of time. There is no correlation between being a successful football coach and having an above average IQ. But, football coaches are more prone to making poor judgments and operating in the ethical gray zone because they are focused on winning and outcomes, and the ones with lower IQs are more susceptible to finding themselves in the situation Overton is currently in.

You’re forgetting about the team mom standoff. The original team mom was the original whistleblower. Her son now gets to make the playoffs at SoCo, so in the end she wins that standoff I guess.

Kid barely even plays lol
