So if you’re against socialism, then you support ending social security and Medicare, right?

I’m fine with them. Pretty sure they’ve been around for longer than I have, and we are not a socialist country.
But good try.

Pp here. I support them as well. But they are “socialist” policies. I’m tired of people saying how much they hate “socialism” when they clearly support a lot of “socialist” policies.

Well I’m a Republican who is pro choice. Not everything is black and white.

The GOP voted for George W Bush and this issue wasn't problematic. Walz's charges were reduced to reckless driving. Walz was fined $200 plus court costs, which include the costs of the police alcohol test. He no longer drinks alcohol so apparently learned from this incident.

First of all, the Bush thing seems positively quaint by Trumpian standards. But, also, with Walz, you don't even have the rich-son-of-powerful-political-family-gets-special-treatment angle.

Do you not understand what Trump’s 34 felony convictions are for? He wasn’t paying a sex worker for sex, he was paying her to keep quiet so he could win an election. And now he’s a convicted felon.

Just imagine if Walz had been seen partying with Epstein and a bunch of underage trafficking victims

Honey, you are so desperate. You have spent the entire day writing posts about Governor Shapiro as though he had been wronged. There were several people on that list. You don't care about them?

The Republicans are very upset that Harris went with the most magnetic and pragmatic choice and, after dropping hints it was going to be Shapiro, slapped the GOP around by not going with him. And after they spent all that time and money coming up with various antisemtic attacks and now they don’t get to use them!

This is it exactly.

Walz vs Vance at same age
Anonymous
I went to the grocery store (Lund’s, for my fellow Minnesotans) to get some ingredients for the National Night Out party and managed to overhear a Republican woman slip up and refer to Governor Walz as “our next Vice President” angrily, then catch herself and say “I hope not.” (Then she went on to complain about the new 5¢ bag tax, if you want to know what flavor of person she was.)

Republicans know how bad Harris/Walz is for the GOP’s chances.

He was serving in the National Guard at that time- why was he allowed to keep his career? DUI/DWI is a career ending event.

How about rape?

Don’t ask, don’t tell.

In 1999, Walz agreed to be the faculty advisor of the first gay-straight alliance at Mankato West High School. In the 90s, when it wasn't easy. He said something to the effect that of course he would do it, since the backing of the straight, older, football coach should show others that being an ally was the right thing to do.

That's real f'in leadership.

Am I the only one who thinks of Little House on the Prairie anytime someone says Mankato?

Who cares about a student club he sponsored at a HS almost 30 years ago. That has no relationship to his qualifications for Vice President.

It shows that he was a good dude even back then. Not many Midwestern high school football coaches were volunteering as faculty advisor for the gay kids.

IMO - worse than the drunk driving charge is him trying to claim to be deaf to get out of it.

That was looked into and he does have hearing loss in both ears and even had surgery for it.

He can’t hear.
He almost killed someone drinking.
He left the military before combat.
He presided over lawless Minneapolis.
And he is Tampon Tim?

Wow so far this is quite a winning bunch of stats

This was a savvy choice.

I think Kelly was a better choice. I like Walz but he's not exciting, and Americans are so superficial and want exciting.

Have you heard Kelly speak? He’s about as exciting as rock.🪨

This was Kelly’s problem IMO.

It wasn’t his main problem. Harris couldn’t lose his senate seat. Would require a special election to replace him. Not sure if that’s a risk to take with a stacked court. I mean Johnson is threatening a lawsuit against Biden finishing his term. Biden went to great lengths to time his step down. After RNC and before DNC. Legally, delegates and campaign funds transferred to Harris in plenty of time for nominee certificate. After RNC was stealth move as JD was already nominee and together with Trump their entire shtick was bashing Biden. Laugh with me pp!!

I just don't buy that. AZ's Democratic governor would appoint another Dem to Kelly's seat. The special election wouldn't be until 2026, plenty of time to solidify support in a state that seems to be trending increasingly purple, if not blue.

You’re right, and that’s what Kelly said on social media. I just don’t trust the stacked court. Johnson’s been a weasel. Like I said above, threatening litigation when it’s constitutionally not possible. Kelly’s alright. The pick wasn’t going to change my vote. Didn’t they vet Kelly a 2nd time? Something was off. Or maybe she just didn’t vibe with him.

Walz was an early Harris endorser and a Biden loyalist. He’s low key. Which is why many (including me) were Walz who? Stellar credentials. Maybe he also lightens things up, makes her laugh. And her laugh annoys republicans, so it’s a win! Shapiro and Kelly are serious. Shapiro was the riskier pick. Tired of Trumps, all of them. Vance is disastrous. Trump asked if he should drop Vance! We need less strife in a very solemn world.

This was exactly my reaction to this news. How you all are celebrating the anti-semitism of the far left that this choice has given its stamp of approval for is beyond me. This is not a "unifying" choice, unless your version of the Democratic party expunges a whole lot of Jews. PA is going to go to Trump.

Cry me a river. Shapiro had baggage and right now, someone who volunteered in Israel (and that happened to include the IDF) is controversial. I say this as a Reform Jew. I'm so relieved he wasn't chosen.

And the idea that the Democratic Party expunges Jews is absurd. Harris is married to a Jew.

Here are the top cabinet level executives who happen to be Jewish in the Biden Administration
Tony Blinken, Secretary of State
Janet Yellin, Secretary of Treasury
Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security

That's 3 out of 15 positions.

Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader is Jewish. So are Michael Bennet (D-CO), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Benjamin Cardin (D-MD retiring), Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Brian Schatz (D-HI), Bernard Sanders (I-VT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR). That's 9 Senators.

We Jews represent 2.4% of the U.S. population. I'd say we're well represented.

How is it pandering?

They guy has a solid track record both legislatively and as an executive. Certainly more experience than Shapiro.

Oh gee. What a horrible crime. He really put citizens in harms way with this one.

The million dead from Trump’s bungling of covid agree.

You've been listening to media sources that are misleading you. He was convicted for falsifying business records, not for paying her to keep quiet about his infidelity.

But he actually does have hearing loss or did. It’s on record with dept of veteran affairs due to artillery blasts for all those years in military.
