She came up through this system so your statement is a pretty big indictment of her. She knew the culture was broken and did nothing to fix it.

She knew nothing of the sort. This whole incident is a surprise to most of us.

You seem awfully confident in the Superintendent’s knowledge and the CO’s mindset.

And you seem confident in all this unproven gossip. I want real proof. I'm not comfortable convicting people without evidence.

Nobody is "convicting" McKnight of anything. We've simply lost confidence in her as a leader. We don't have the power to oust her, so lucky her, she will probably keep her job. She is not remotely a victim here. She is being protected.

These same people have done nothing but find fault with every one of her actions since day 1. They really could care less about the welfare of students or MCPS. They've had it in for her and despise public education.

This is a bald-faced lie. Most people who criticize Monifa love public education and hate her poor leadership is tarnishing and ruining MCPS. They're vocal because they care and love public education and want to save it from Monifa's mismanagement.

You, on the other hand, seem willing to excuse anything and everything because Monifa is a friend or auntie of yours. I don't know but the blind, unwavering alleigiance is weird.

If you can’t stand to read opposing opinions and stances then may I suggest you not participate in contributing to a public blog. This isn’t a private group that you must request to join and only allowed in if you’re racist, hate monifa as you continue to call her as well as hold a disgust for Beidleman.

It’s an organization from the top down designed to ignore complaints. There has to be other situations that were reported via formal complaints, written complaints but considered informal because it wasn’t on the correct form, and anonymous complaints that were ignored.

I know! It's hard to believe the previous super ignored these.

Once again, while the actual abuse spanned multiple superintendents, the behavior accelerated when Dr. McKnight came into power and the actual complaints were filed under her watch. So the matter under discussion - whether MCPS ignored sexual harassment and abuse when it was reported - all happened while Dr. McKnight was in charge.

Another poster said they were ignored because they were filed anonymously or done using the wrong forms. I can understand it if people never filed these reports correctly that there was a systemic failure.

Reports were made to Maryland's Safe Schools tip line. That wasn't a case of the wrong form being used. That was MCPS ignoring information it was being provided.

What does the State of Maryland and Governor think about the Safe Schools tip line being ignored by MCPS. Don’t other safety complaints come in through that tip line and were they ignored as well?

Have to disagree, because it seems like the most honest thing said here.

It's hard for me to believe you ever had confidence since this has been going on long before now, and the same people just look for an excuse to find fault. I mean were so busy convicting McKnight I can't even remember what it was that Biedleman did.

NP. I am in the same camp as PP. I used to think everyone criticizing her here was the result of power jockeying and politics, and, honestly, it probably mostly was. But, after seeing this play out in the Post, I don't know how she can continue. Clearly, from her high level positions before her tenure, she would have had information on this behavior. This whole scandal reflects poorly on everyone at a high level of MCPS leadership. I always thought the "clear house" contingent was rabble rousers or the nutty Dawn people. But, this leadership clearly enabled a predator. And rewarded him. It valued cronyism over the well being of students and teachers. There needs to be real accountability. McKnight 's lip service is nowhere near enough.

Agree but the whole nutty Dawn contingent is using this to push their agenda. Notice how they are more focused on McKnight than Beadleman who is the accused party or the prior supers who allowed this to go on for years. They're just out for her because that was always their goal. Now that doesn't mean I'm thrilled about this either but hard to take them seriously because they're anything but objective.

I can’t stand Dawn but I am more focused on the organizational problems because that’s more important than one creep. Beidleman should be dismissed if even only a handful of the allegations are true. But there also need to be a lot of dismissals from the senior leadership ranks and some big changes to the systems that failed. As the head of the school system, the Superintendent owns all of those systems.

I'm sure McKnight is CYA as we write.

In an August 17 video statement, McKnight said about the investigation, “If there is any rot, we will root it out. But I want to make it clear to everyone, there will be accountability.”

Beidleman is a creepy crawler. That’s all to it. The closest one to him at Farquhar was the admin secretary. Call out everyone that was part of the debacle. He saved her husbands life so she won’t talk.

From her campaign, Rebecca Smondrowski lives in Olney. Farquhar Middle School is in Olney. I’m not surprised that they would be acquaintances.

Does anyone find it odd that a young black male is so friendly with often times middle aged white women? I would say this is a classic case of an opportunist and it’s not normal.
