How long does Phase 1A vaccinations take?

Anonymous
From DCHealth's website, Phase 1A is 115,000 people. They claim to have been administering vaccines to the Phase 1A population since December 15th. (All according to DC Health website)

Why is WaPo reporting that DC has only administered 15,583 doses as of close of business last night?

What is going on? Can Doctors and Nurses not be found? Where are the other 100K medical professionals and why are they not getting vaccinated?

Why is DC not vaccinating its phased population until it runs out of vaccine and then it can ask for more. But just leaving doses in the refrigerator because we cannot find Doctor Brown is simply stupid. In ten days, Phase 1A will have been allocated a month of vaccination time!!!

I think DC has said that they will take as long as it takes. If it takes six months to get 1A done then it takes six months. DC is Very worried about this being perceived as fair. So the cost of that is time...which we all have plenty of at home.

I was just discussing this with my spouse. This is so F'd up. As of yesterday's update, they sent out invites to 10,000 health workers. 3,000 signed up and went and got their shots. They are trying to track down the rest. IN THE MEANTIME DO YOU THINK THEY MIGHT GO TO THE NEXT GROUP??? The missing 7,000 could jump right back in when they are located. THIS is why we can't be a state. They had all fall to prepare.

Starting Monday, anyone over 65 can sign up for appointments. Starting 1/25, essential workers including teachers can sign up.

They are moving on, and more rapidly than most places.

January 11th is a target date that DC looks to be missing for starting the 65 and over vaccines.

They simply are not reporting enough progress with 1A.

DC still has not updated its official roadmap with even phase 1B dates.

Phase 1B:
Law enforcement, public safety, school teachers and staff, childcare providers,
grocery store workers, community outreach workers, correction workers,
public transit workers, manufacturing, U.S. Postal Service workers, and those
in agriculture; and
• District of Columbia residents who are 75 years and older and District
of Columbia residents in Intermediate Care Facilities, Group Homes, or
other higher risk congregate settings.
• 110,000 individuals

Front line workers are not accessing the portal to sign up for an appt to get the shot.

Based on what Bowser said yesterday - DC is moving on to the next groups.

This is totally needed.

I wonder why DC is not using the DC Alert Emergency texting system to tell 1A people to sign up.

Also, how does a Doctor or Nurse in DC not know that it is there turn to sign up and how to sign up?

Also, now that I think of it, I have not seen a single advertisement at a bus stop or anywhere telling people to sign up.

Can you please provide verbage for this or a link? I saw that they said they were "looking" for the missing. Nothing about moving on to the next group. Other states have mentioned that policy, but I'd like to see the specifics from DC. Thanks!

How is the word getting out? Where is the portal being advertised?

I am sorry but the whole "we are looking for 7000 healthcare workers who are not smart enough to register on our portal" line of reasoning just does not add up.

If the Doctors can't figure it out, how are the lawyers going to register?

Whole vaccine process is a mess. DCHealth has pretty much given up. It is Lord of the Flies now. Check this twitter thread out. People are just lining up outside of Safeway and Giant now because they have extra doses nobody is showing up for.

Why does the information in the Mayor's 4 Jan update conflict with the information on the City vaccine webpage and the timelines posted on it?

Is the https://coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccine website being maintained or updated?

I received an email with embedded link. It was one that could have been easily missed as it didn’t look different than many other covid update emails. I can see why someone that was not looking for it or fatigued by updates might miss it.

The confusion probably stems from the fact that once you go the the DC Vaccination portal it tells health care workers not to go any further and to contact their employers.

If you work for any of the below listed institutions, please exit this questionnaire and contact your facility for specific instructions on how to get vaccinated.
