Do the kids get to stay at the schools is my question?

Word of mouth from a friend? “I know a guy wo can really help you out with that.” It must be a network of hundreds and hundreds of parents taking ... right?

That's the allegation.

Singer apparently started out as a legitimate college counselor -- advice on clsases to take, target/match schools -- so he had a legitimate reputation. The indictment says it was a word of mouth situation.

He's cooperating with prosecutors now, and if you believe TMZ (which tends to be dead on for this kind of story) about 600 families took advantage of the bribery/test cheating scheme.

So Singer sent them to the psychologist he bribed to get a fake extended time accommodation, then arrange for testing private through a bribed College Board proctor.

When the kid’s school got notice of the accommodations bring granted, they contacted Huffman about administering the SAT at her school, and Huffman freaked our, emailing Singer/his people ‘Ruh ro’ and brainstorming with them about how to get out of that.

Psychologist here. I hadn’t heard this detail before, although I guess it makes sense. Is there a link for this?

Lori definitely had no idea what was coming down the pipe.

Lori Loughlin deserves everything she gets just for raising this entitled, spoiled BRAT and pushing her out in to society.

+1 gazillion.
This is the first time I've seen this girl, but boy, if my daughter grew up like that, I'd jump out of the window.

I'm 100% sure no one on this thread has any idea how much $$ she makes every week. 1.9 million subscribers to her youtube channel, 1.3 million to her instagram, almost 200,000 for her twitter feed. Then she sells stuff and gets influencer payments. 30k a month or more no doubt. She'll have more subscribers now. Welcome to the future!

why do california kids speak like this? california is such a messed up place.

She actually seems reasonably smart and well spoken.

Funny, I was thinking she seems vacuous and utterly narcissistic. But that's true of many in her generation unfortunately, thanks for social media.

LOL This is the girl with a 1032 on her SAT. She's an idiot. And mom paid for all her content marketing and subscribers just like she paid someone else to take her admissions test for her.

Slightly off topic, but isn’t that literally an average SAT score? Obviously, that’s not high enough for white kid to get into a prestigious school (without bribery/legacy status), but it doesn’t make her an “idiot.”

Basically, she’s an average kid with rich parents.

OMG - USC trying to do damage control via TMZ...

"...On a different front, sources at USC familiar with the scandal tell us the University has known about the investigation for around 2 months, but they did not investigate ... because they didn't want to undermine the feds. Our sources say they've dealt with the U.S. Attorney's Office before, and they know if they conducted a simultaneous investigation it could tip off witnesses and targets, and result in the destruction of evidence.

As for what USC will do with the students whose parents got them into the school via bribery, well-connected sources tell us the students will not all be evaluated the same way. We're told if the students knew they were admitted because of bribes, they will be expelled. If they were in the dark, the University will evaluate all of the circumstances and the decisions will be student-specific.

And, one final thing, as for USC ... we know officials are furious at the parents who engaged in bribery. They say it has tarnished the school, the students and the athletic programs."

For some of the defendants, I think it is. The chairman of the blue-chip law firm, for example, would likely find it embarrassing if he had to tell his peers that Jr was going to SUNY. And it would also tank his kid's chances or law school or a hedge fund position in the future.

I could see that.

Gotta keep the kids straight folks.

Olivia Jade's parents (Massimo guy and Lori Laughlin) paid Singer to do the fake athlete (crew) scam 2x, not the test score cheating.

It was Huffman/Macy's kid whose test scores were faked.

As with the other fake scores, there were lengthy discussions with Singer as to how much to bring them up so as not to arouse suspicion. They had to come up with a high enough score to squeak in, but also one which was consistent with their high school grades.

Aunt Becky and her husband never went to college and seemed naïve about the whole process and desperate.

The interesting thing about Felicity Huffman is she's a different case--she's a WASP, the daughter of a partner at Morgan Stanley, and a Yale legacy.

"Huffman was born in Bedford, New York, into a wealthy family, the daughter of Grace Valle (née Ewing; 1921–2009)[1] and Moore Peters Huffman (1910–1987), a banker and partner at Morgan Stanley.[2][3] Her parents divorced a year after her birth, and she was raised by both of her parents.[4][5] When she was a young teenager, she discovered that her biological father was Roger Tallman Maher, who was a family friend.[4] She has six sisters, Mariah, Betsy, Grace, Isabel, Jessie, Jane (1949–2013),[6] and a brother, Moore Jr. [7][8] Her great-grandfather was Gershom Moore Peters (1843–1919), founder of the Peters Cartridge Company and prominent Baptist minister, author of The Master.[9] Another great-grandfather, Frederick Berthold Ewing, graduated from Yale University and became a prominent St. Louis businessman. Her great-great-grandfather was Joseph Warren King (1814–1885), founder of the King Mills Powder Company"

I went to a SUNY and then a top 3 law school. Don’t shade SUNYs!

USC really comes off looking the worst in the affadavit. They were involved in about 90% of the fake athlete schemes. I mean, come on....I have to think it was an unspoken rule that the athletic department was given a certain number of spots to hand out to fake athletes in return for donations. Much of The money was going straight into the athletic budget for crying out loud!

Why be mad at the parents rather than being mad at the USC coaches/administrators/staff for accepting bribes? Maybe take a second look at the quality of who you are hiring.

Where does William H Macy fit into all of this? They’re still married, right?

For USC to act outraged at this is absurd. Hopefully they don't take donations for buildings from donors who happen to have kids applying to the school because this is the same

Umm, that’s literally what’s done all of the time, everywhere.

Every school has a development office, even Publics.
