Hoax: Hate crime attackers: "This is MAGA country."

Instead of pointing the finger and blaming Jussie, maybe we can spend some time reflecting quietly and thinking about how society (you and me) pushed a talented, young man with a bright future to go to such lengths to make a point about the systemic violence against minorities. How can we reach people like him who do not feel like they're being heard and show love, compassion, and support?

These are the thoughts I'll be ruminating on instead of the callousness I am reading here from some of you.

I applaud what he did because it helped expose the implicit bias and agenda in the media (again).

Anything that hurts the media by exposing their bias, is a good thing, even if it was a bad thing otherwise.

Sorry. I don't think that is the issue here at all.
He pushed this story and this ugly narrative because he KNEW he would be believed by millions. He knew the compliant media and the social justice warriors would jump on this story as an opportunity to advance their hatred for our president. Nobody pushed him to take these actions. He had a platform - more than most people have. But, he chose to use it to lie and create a hateful narrative because he simply knew people would believe him. He spread hate by doing what he did.

This idiot comes from a big show biz family. He was getting paid good money to be on TV and make music. He had his social media followers that would listen to him. His only run in with police came in 2007 for a DUI (where he gave police his brother's name). This dude was so oppressed that he had to hire 2 Nigerians to mock lynch him and it blew up in his face.

This guy did not have it tough and he deserves no sympathy. He wanted to brand himself the "gay Tupac". This was all about his enormous ego and a hatred for Trump.

That's one way of viewing a disturbed individual who not only orchestrated and paid for a sickening pretend hate crime involving a noose and bleach but was able to participate in an interview afterwards with a well-known, highly regarded African American broadcaster and feign tears and fear.

Omg, I seriously find this so disturbing. He is causing hate and divide for his own benefit. He is twisted and needs to get in big trouble

This moron cynically used race and politics to fuel the fire his hoax ignited. He betrayed everything your naive and sadly misguided comment stands for.

I am pretty sure there is something wrong with me, because I am typing Jussie Smollett into google every 12 minutes.

I have no idea why I am so obsessed with this case, not having watched Empire, having no knowledge of the guy, being a liberal democrat who traditionally supports all liberal media coverage. I don't think I'm interested in the political collateral damage. I am interested 100% in the crime. What went through this guy's head to plan this thing out? He must have been a little bit of a sociopath. No regard for the real victims that might be out there. He has ruined his life. And I hope he has to pay back the police department.

No. This guy has a big agenda. Have you seen his political music video "F.U.W.?" (Effed Up World)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2WjyxR79Bc

He viewed this hoax as a political statement and thought he'd get away with it. He wasn't being pushed by society to commit a crime in order to be heard. He had been speaking and using his platform to let the world hear his voice on this subject. This went too far and he committed a felony. He was living the dream, a paid actor on a hit show. A much better situation than most people find for themselves. Society owes him nothing that he hadn't already gotten.

No, we don't have to take on the blame and responsibility for his criminal, sick behavior. I do feel sorry for him and the choices he made. He needs mental health support.

He needs to go to jail.

I understand your obsession. I was a fan of the show in its first few seasons. I am black and a Dem. Once I heard the facts of the cae, I never fully believed it. It just didn't make sense. The location, the outside temperature, yelling MAGA, it didn't stack up from the beginning. Jussie needs mental health support something is wrong with him. So much suffering that people of color and gay people go through for real. It makes me sick to my stomach. He deserves every punishment he gets.

I predict something laced with Fentanyl will write the final chapter on Jussie Smollet.

I can guarantee that you are not black. You are talking like a self loathing white person. The black community is disgusted by his actions and think he deserves to be punished.

No. I think he will reveal he has been struggling with drugs and alcohol. Everyone who commits a crime goes to rehab. No one ever takes accountability for their actions.
