There is a CVHS mom who’s pushing a petition for FCPS to expand Centreville as planned pre-KAA and not move anyone at CVHS to Westfield. I would be very surprised if she’s not posting here as well, given some of the posts on this thread.

Bull Run shouldnt feed to CVHS-it should most def go to Westfields and backfill the leaving Skyview kids. As the other physical side of CVHS could argue the opposite- as they are bused to Fairfax and Robinson which is way further away. NIMBY

Those Bull Run areas are much closer to Centreville HS than Westfield and have always attended there.

Really? I haven't seen that one. I have seen the Cabell's Mill themed petition about switching middle schools and another one from Bull Run families, but I haven't seen anything about the expansion. Most people don't want their kids attending 3000 student schools so its strange anyone would be focused on that. The Bull Run people can stay at Centreville without an expansion, its not that crowded and the population is not increasing as that area is built out.

The shape of the boundary can tell you quite a bit about whether a school will have a strong sense of community. Reassigning a small pocket of Chantilly north of 50 to Westfield doesn’t make a lot of sense when there’s an effort underway to move Westfield neighborhoods north of 50 to Skyview and one of the stated goals is to reduce overcrowding at Centreville.

It's a relatively small area and would be close to an attendance island but for a small contiguous area. No one could look at this and say it's the product of a sound boundary review.

Yes. Centreville is 104% over.
Chantilly is 110% over.
Oakton is 103% over.

The last consultants were told to ignore anything below 105% over capacity as part of normal population fluctuations, IIRC.

It was the closest in distance full elementary school zone to Westfield not actually zoned to Westfield, so of course it made sense. You don't like it, but you certainly can understand how it makes logical sense.
