| What is wrong with wood cabinets where you can actually see the wood? Like nature intended. |
| They are not my preference. But hate is a strong word. |
|
There is nothing to hate about white kitchens, just like there is little to hate about the stainless appliances.
White is most forgiving color and the most classic color in history of kitchenology, just as the stainless appliances that love or hate but they match every decor unlike any other color and so they are to stay. |

People have been painting wood since the beginning of time.
Is someone putting a gun to your head and forcing you to live in a house with a white kitchen? No. So get over it. |
| I don't hate white kitchens but I don't get the obsession people seem to have with them. Not to mention they're impractical. |
|
I don't hate them and get why it's the default, especially for developers and people who renovate before selling.
I'm not a huge fan of natural wood on kitchen cabinet door fronts, though. I love a butcher block counter and I love natural wood open shelving and a natural wood, free-standing island. But I think natural wood door fronts look cheap unless you go very, very high end (and that's incredibly rare). Whereas developer-grade white cabinets from Ikea or Lowes look fine -- not super stylish, but inoffensive. |

I hate white kitchens, too, OP. So boring.
And show all the issues immediately. |
| An empty white kitchen does not stay empty today for more than a second. Once the counter-top appliances and other kitchen accessories are out in full force then a white kitchen displays its forte. Bright white affirms spanking clean. |
| I love our high gloss white kitchen and it’s so easy to keep clean! But you do you, OP. We don’t have to all like the same things. |
| Oh I totally get it. Whenever I see one I think “another lemming.” I instantly scan for west elm sofas and barn doors, and am rarely disappointed to find them. |
| This is great news for me, since I wanted to paint mine white but we decided to keep our wood cabinets their natural color. I’ll feel more confident at resale time. |
Sigh...poor people who could not afford quality furniture would paint their cheap basic stuff to liven it up. It was not wrong, but it did not signal quality. I think the reason wealthy people do white kitchens now is that the faux craftsman look has come into fashion. Like they are trying to hide their wealth in a 6000 sq ft McCraftsman. The white cabinets look salt of the earth. Fine if that is what you want to pretend, but fine wood cabinets don’t need paint and will always signal quality. |
| I prefer being in a bright light space to a dark space. |
| I grew up suffocated by brown wooden paneling all over. I hate wood. White is awesome. |
| Wood need not be dark. If it is, it is usually because of the stain, not the wood itself. |
