She was more qualified than Pence and now she has 3 years of being a VP. Who would be more qualified? |
Have you seen Kamala’s approval ratings? It’s about performance in the office and approval ratings, not pre-job “qualifications.” “NBC News says Harris' net-negative rating of -17 is the lowest for a vice president in the history of its poll. Zoom out: In Oct. 2019, 34% had a positive view of then-Vice President Mike Pence, while 38% had a negative view, for a rating of -4, per NBC News.” |
I am an independent and do have concerns about these issues. But I think that we need to have a Congress willing to have difficult conversations and actually legislate and compromise. It’s not sustainable to say “deport everyone” (Trump) or shoot shoplifters as they walk out of stores (Trump). The partisanship is not in our best interest and Trump lives for deepening divisions and riling people up. I want leadership that actually points out that there are pros and cons to every decision and then explain why they believe a position is better for the body politic. Citizen United has just made governing a grab bag of corruption. |
Are these the same polls that predicted the red wave of 2022? |
I think it is largely this. That and I simply no longer trust the New York Times when it comes to sorting people. I realize that a poll is different from their “journalism” but there have been far too many examples of them interviewing “independents” and “democrats” who, upon a slight scratch, are the type of people who had their homes swathed in maga swag. 2016 showed that anything can happen and might but the media is doing double work for Trump. |
Yep. |
Yes - and also they feel more dire this time. It feels like Gaza is turning into Afghanistan 2.0 for Biden - a horrible mess that, who knows if he could have done it better, but it looks pretty bad and it's on his watch. When all this started I honestly thought that it would be a whole lot of nothing right now (for Americans; not for Israelis or Palestinians). And yet here we are. I feel worried. As a Democrat, that is my nature. But right now I feel more worried. I'd still rather be Biden than Trump going into this race, but I am worried. |
Yes. And I think the New York Times is going to be disappointed when Trump gets elected and they don’t see the same bump in subscribers they got in 2016. I’m on the verge of dropping my subscription because I’m tired of breathless reporting on Trump’s every fart and nap. There have been protests in Georgia for weeks and no coverage until recently. |
Allowing everyone in like Biden is is not sustainable and his partisanship isn’t in our best interests. |
I’m worried too. Although I’m an independent! I would have liked Haley. I don’t really like Biden (though I give him credit for being effective with the pathetic Congress we have), but Trump is a traitor to our country and I will never forgive him that. |
Yep |
And Congress needs to address this issue. It’s been festering for decades and is not sustainable. Biden in fact was ready to sign the compromise immigration legislation but Trump tanked it. Because Trump likes partisanship. I really don’t see Biden as being partisan. What makes you believe he is? |
Really? That's crazy. I don't see how you think you're getting any kind of accurate cross-section with this poll when it seems that 99% of people don't want to participate. |
It is very interesting. If current polling holds, it seems likely that Democrats will hold the Senate and take the House while Donald Trump becomes president. I think this is a result that many Americans will consider to be ideal given available options. The vast majority of Americans don't identify with the far left or the far right. This result would keep the extremes in check. As for Biden, there are a lot of reasons he's going to lose. He's not only far too old, but he really presents himself as someone who is far too old for the presidency. He'll be 86 for goodness sake. I don't know what Jill Biden was thinking encouraging her geriatric husband to run for reelection. There should have been a stern talking to. Then add the issues that people really care about. Inflation over the past four years. It really has made life a lot harder for the vast majority of Americans that live paycheck to paycheck. Immigration. More than 10 million illegal migrants from around the world have streamed across the border since Biden became president. Absolutely everyone in America thinks that's out of control. Trans-women. In reality it's a non-issue, but it does hit a nerve with a lot of women and is an easily exploitable issue. Israel-Gaza. There's no win anywhere for Biden. Progressives won't vote for Biden over this issue. And the rest of America looks upon the protestors as terrorist sympathizers. Hopeless issue for Biden. And abortion is not going to save the day for Biden. It's become a state by state local issue. And with voters willing to split tickets, those votes will be cast down ballot. Democrats really should have nominated someone else if they had wanted to keep the White House. Trump is the most beatable candidate in history. Any 55 year old with a pulse and some common sense would beat him. But here we are. |
This should be a sticky to look back on when Biden loses, which he will. |
