Look. I wish Biden had not run and that there had been a real Democratic primary. I really thought for the longest time that he would wait until the last possible moment to bow out so that he wouldn’t be a lame duck too early. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. It’s not really clear to me why everyone hates him so much though. He’s such an improvement over Trump and unemployment is low, we didn’t have a recession. But here we are and I think Trump will get elected. |
I agree. I just don't understand how Trump stays alive. If he is elected, he won't survive his term. |
The vice president picks for both candidates given their ages are hugely important. Kamala is not an asset to Biden. |
He has to have the support of the party to run as their candidate. It’s not solely Biden’s decision. |
The survey results in NYTimes poll are interesting. Look at this question: "How satisfied are you with the way things are going in your life these days?" Net Satisfied: 74% Net Unsatisfied: 22% I mean, that is a shocking spread. The vast majority of the country is satisfied with their lives. People are really just looking for something to complain about and the media environment bombards them with negative messaging. I think they still come home for Biden. I would be flabbergasted if 77% of country that is "satisfied" with their life dumps the incumbent. Americans just really, really like to whine. |
It’s only a shocking spread if you can see a big improvement in spread over time. |
And he has that support since he overwhelmingly won the primaries. |
I so hope you are correct. |
The other thing that really strikes me is that the poll has the Democrat winning comfortably in each of the Senate races in the 4 states with races. 3 of those are incumbents. If people are so upset with the status quo and democratic policies, why are they saying they're going to vote for the democratic incumbent senators? There's a lot that doesn't add up. |
Right…and that PP and I are lamenting that DNC provided that support given how the polls look now. It was a bad call. |
Would love to see the historical data for this question in May 2020 during the Covid election campaign. I bet it was not 77% satisfied. ![]() |
The Democrats are so predictable. If you have concerns about immigration, healthcare, crime, or the economy, then you aren’t an educated citizen expressing discontent - you simply are someone who likes to whine. |
Questions like "how satisfied are you with your personal life" get to something similar to Lichtman's Keys to the Presidency, which is much more accurate than polling. Americans love to talk sh#t to anyone who will listen to them rant without judgment. |
Democratic primary voters supported him, not the DNC. The DNC does not pick presidential candidates. |
The NYTimes/Siena poll had a sub-1% response rate: poll reflects 4,097 respondents after making over 500,000 calls to 410,000 voters.
Sorry, but you get odd people providing views when you're only polling the 1% of people who bother to pick up the phone and talk to a stranger. |
