They get off on trashing people. Disgusting. |
So what? Mostly they are right. It's not a bad guess. But they aren't the ones wondering why she would marry a deadbeat and judging his appearance well after it was established Cleotha was involved. A good husband wouldn't let his wife out of the house, he's obviously a bad husband because of tattoos. Not the same. |
And marry a “southern gentleman” who will protect you and not allow you to do anything remotely dangerous. |
Yep they think Eliza and her husband are bad people. She runs for fun and is an overeducated pre-k teacher! He has tattoos and allows his wife have freedom and leave the house unescorted! Therefore they are bad people who had it coming. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves and lets them sleep easier at night. |

For those saying Memphis PD worked harder to solve this crime, they did have the benefit of many factors that don't occur in every case, including:
--Early morning biker who found her cell phone and his slides and promptly reported them --Video surveillance in that same area where the items were found that picked up the car, its plate, identifying damage, and the incident of the struggle and kidnapping --DNA on the slides that matched DNA already in database --Perp that didn't flee but instead went right back to the same address where the car was registered --Family member of perp that reported he was cleaning the floor of the car, washing his clothes, and acting strangely Not every crime is this easy to solve. |
Yup. Clearly they deserved it. |
I wonder that too, but having a conversation about the victim doesn't mean it's victim blaming. Don't confuse the two. In my dream world every single mom and dad of sons would be teaching their boys about consent and to keep their hands and bodies to themselves no matter where the girl is, what she's wearing, whether he or she are drunk, etc. I know they aren't so I have no choice but to arm my daughter with that reality. It's not victim blaming, it's acknowledging there are bad men and crappy parents in this world. |
So awful. Her poor family. |
So why aren't we talking about ways to keep the bad guys off the street? That might help a little, no? Or do we just throw up our hands and as what can we do? "Just wear the right clothes" isn't a winning strategy. |
Yes. Because those are the only possible precautions one can take to keep themselves safe. I remember one time, years ago, I decided to take an early morning run on the trail in Bethesda. 20 minutes in and I was like “bad idea, bad idea!” I kept checking over my shoulder and was hyper aware of my surroundings. I just turned around and went home. Not worth it. |
Society is always talking about this -- do you have answers? We don't generally lock someone up and throw away the key at age 17 if they haven't committed a murder, and that's the scenario we had here. Prisons are crowded, some people are released and go on to live productive lives, but many go on to re-offend, despite post-release programs. |
I'd rather career criminals get locked up with the key thrown away than have women living under house arrest too afraid to leave their homes. But losers get chance after chance ruining lives as they go. |
You are choosing to label rape victims "idiots." And basically saying "men will be men." You also think harsh penalties, rather than good parenting and a mental health system, prevent sexual violence in adults. You have some extremely backward views from how you were raised. You should try your best to read up on the science of mental illness. AND, you should not be so smug as to think that you and your daughters are safe because you are not idiots. KARMA is a b*t#h. |
So then what happened? You just never went out for a run again? |
Her southern gentleman husband forbade it. |
