I’m Gen-X and grew up in suburbia and I delayed learning to drive until senior year. Got my learners permit 2 years after I was old enough to. I was scared to drive. My mom was initially supportive of me waiting, though IIRC she eventually made me inconvenience friends for rides instead of her as “encouragement” to get me motivated. I’ve now driven 14 hours solo multiple times. Not recently given work/spouse/kids. But man if I had the opportunity to take a long solo road trip I would JUMP at it. |
| I have regularly driven 12 hours straight, alone in the vehicle. He’ll be fine. |
| We should really ask Jeff to have a pin section. Where we can pin the most absurd and reality detached posts stay forever! |

So many questions...
OP did your MIL make you take helicopter flight lessons before she handed over the keys, or were you already licensed? This is my first encounter with a helicopter spouse. |
| JFC, talk about being super controlling. |
| Your kidding right? Six hours is very easy if every two hours you take a few minute break. |
| 6 hours in a day with two days rest in between. Lmao. Are you serious ? I can’t believe people post this stuff. |
I was but DCUM is a place which obviously can't detect sarcasm. |
| I've done that and more. I don't think it is a problem for average healthy drivers. You might consider the time of day, though. Exhausting for me at 4 in the afternoon. But if I start in the morning, really early, I'm fine. |
| LOL! Is this for real? Who can’t drive 6 hrs! I’m still laughing. |
Will not let this asinine comment die! Please do not pass your D-baggery on to your kids! |
| Helicopter much? |
Are you ever in for a shock. You realize your kid is a dime a dozen to them, right? |
|
Everyone is ganging up on OP. It's enough.
OP, ignore the haters. |

Your husband is a wimp.
Gimme a break. Have them agree on a fun new podcast to listen to and they'll have a great time together |
