DH driving DD 6+ hours each way by himself

Right? The week I got my drivers license at 16 I hopped in the car and drove 5 hours to my cousin’s house. Of course your grown ass husband can drive 6 hours with a kid in the car.

I drove 9 hrs by myself (a woman, OMG!) this summer. It's really not a big deal.

Another vote for this not being a big deal at all. I drove 3 kids 11 hours by myself this summer. Didn’t cross my DH’s mind to worry. I like driving and even when we have another driver in the car, I typically just power through.

OP, there are bigger things to worry about - this isn’t one of them!

Uh, is this for real?

My 65 yo dad drove 12-14 hours often and drove 20 hours in two days when he was 67.

But maybe your spouse has some health issue??

LOL. No college will miss out on your precious. You’re only harming your kid.

Lots of kids today don't drive. It is not that unusual. 2021 is not like 1985 where every 16 year old is dying to learn.

And explains a lot about all the issues GenZ has.

I’ve noticed this also. The only two teens living on my block do not drive (18 and 19). I was DYING to get out at their age.

I bet they aren't checking out colleges. They just want to get away from OP for a few days.

I don't think it's safe for DH to drive 6+ hours each way in a matter of 4 days (one day down, two days there, one day back). (DD does not have a license.) DH is confident he can do it, and he's generally a safe driver, but he rarely drives more than an hour at a time. Would you feel comfortable with your spouse driving so far by themselves?

It’s 6 hours. What do you think will happen?

It’s fine. I usually only drive an hour or so at a time. I recently drove 7 hours myself for the first time in years and it was tiring but okay. I took a couple breaks.

Obviously are not a hockey family. I have done Toronto and back in a weekend. A new album and a couple good pod casts, call a lonely aunt and the trip is over

Maybe he has one of the DCUM special old best up cars that all the rich people on here supposedly drive? Six hours even completely alone is nothing.
Anonymous
Totally not an issue, OP. Six hours is nothing in a day. I can do 10 and DH, who doesn't really like to drive, can do 8 without an issue.

Op, you have your DH on a pretty short leash.
