Deal full of Subs BC of teacher group exposure?

My 7th grader didn’t report subs last week. But: https://dcpsreopenstrong.com/articles/deal-middle-school-covid-19-notification-3/

My 8th grader has had a sub since the second day. The kids are apparently assuming the teacher is quarantining but they really don't know. And honestly, if so and has tested positive then I'm glad it's happening now so hopefully they can build up some antibodies. I've given up on these morons getting vaccinated.

And after the way Neal handled last year I wouldn't count on her to handle anything transparently or in the best interest of the students. At least DCPS took enough control and said all teachers would be back or the debacle that was pretend school last spring could be repeating itself now.

Why are you assuming the teacher is unvaccinated?

Probabilistically, if an adult gets covid now, they are more likely to be unvaccinated. Yes, there are breakthrough infections. But they are less likely.

So maybe we don’t refer to people as morons based on your 8th grade student maybe thinking someone who may or not be vaccinated is maybe or maybe not quarantining

+1

Especially given this is pretty identifiable information that is being provided about this teacher. You have no clue why the teacher is out, whether the teache that covid or whether the teacher was vaccinated.

Vaccinated teachers don't have to quarantine. I'm a teacher that was exposed through a close contact last spring and didn't have to quarantine. It's not unreasonable to assume quarantining teachers are not vaccinated.

Or they could have a breakthrough case. All I’m saying is that this year will be a lot better for everyone if we stop overreacting and being nasty too each other

Hi! Teacher here with a breakthrough case. I was vaccinated back in February when I was in person. It sucks and Im mad. I got it from one of the kids in my room…I know it. But Im not telling parents or students that I have a breakthrough case. It’s not their business. I did the right thing, I was vaccinated.

I am also a teacher and a colleague at my school got covid and is vaccinated. I think people need to stop assuming everyone who gets covid is unvaccinated. And I agree it is no one’s business, let the DOH handle contact tracing and those issues. I hope you feel okay!

You already have a breakthrough case? Even with distancing and mitigation etc? Yikes

I’m at an elementary. There is no distancing. It isn’t possible.

+1. I was a teacher vaxxed in the first round last March and thank goodness bc I’ve been back since then and social distancing is impossible in ES. Nobody’s fault but k-5 education isn’t build for 3 foot rules
