| Maybe the problem lies with the Administration. Patrick Rottman (8th Gr.) and Diedre Neal (Principal). What are their moral obligations to the Deal/Wilson community and DC community at-large? |
|
Why are we even debating this?
Most if not all of our kids are GOING TO GET COVID. There's absolutely no way to stop the virus in a school full of kids. 12 and up will be fine because they're vaccinated and it's incredibly, incredibly rare for them to get seriously ill. Under 12 will be fine because it's even more unlikely that they will get seriously ill. Signed, physician parent of an 11 year old Deal 6th grader. |
Agreed. They need to release info to the community and not just through a cloudy press update. https://dcpsreopenstrong.com/health/response/notifications/ Seems like the Deal Admin. is working hand-in-hand with Central Office to prevent a panic. Only problem, is that it leads us with o believe they’re hiding something and it fractures the trust we could have when they actually have a real plan. |
Wow. Lol. I’m not sure if I want you examining my child. Lol Sounds like you’re an Administration-Apologist |
| Yeah, that person sounds like they’re fed up with Covid. However, I agree that the Admin. needs to step up their game and do more to provide people with options. It’s very wreckless they they haven’t done anything. |
| I’m not hearing any panic from the parents I know. Is this another DCUM thing? |
DCPS central administration has been lying to you for YEARS. Its just now you care about it. None of this is new. They lie to the community about EVERYTHING! |
PP here. Vaccinated and masked, sure, but there is no distancing. At my school, the first row of desks (as arranged by the school, and I'm not allowed to move them) aren't even 3 feet from the board, so even if I wanted to maintain 6 feet of distance, the school didn't set it up in a way that I could. Students are not maintaining distance, teachers are not maintaining distance, its JUST NOT HAPPENING. But, as I said previously, I'm coming to terms with this. I'm doing the best I can, but also accepting the fact that there is a high likelihood that I will be infected with covid, and that I will spread it to my students. As a side note, props on the racist and classist assumptions. For one thing, there are schools IN the low vaccinated wards you mention. I happen to work at one. And even in your school, its not only going to be the black kids from the other side of the city who bring covid - the kids from your neighborhood can have it too. But its probably easier for you to keep fearing the black children in particular. |
| Statistically speaking, would it be more likely that a person will catch COVID from interacting with someone who lives in an area with low vaccination rates than from interacting with someone who lives in an area with high vaccination rates? |
| I looked at the stats of new cases in schools and there are about as many school personnel testing positive as children. It sounds as though much of the risk is from adults in the school, either breakthrough cases or unvaccinated. |
| Info on new cases is here: https://coronavirus.dc.gov/page/dc-public-schools-dcps-data |
you sound like one of those hysterical WTU shills I’ve seen on Twitter. Is this like Q except for DCPS? |
SO infuriating. |
Fine. Don't believe me. I went to the Pads last week. I heard what they said was going to happen. I saw none of it happen. I heard them say what they wanted for the curriculum because it sounds good, and then implement the opposite. But fine, trust everything they say. They aren't hiding anything. |
It is exactly what everyone should have expected. I know it's certainly what I expected. |
