It’s full of RWNJs so probably not happening anytime soon.

Former civic leaders in FCC have written a letter expressing their disappointment in the uninspiring new names for George Mason HS, but are likely to be ignored (and so the march to mediocrity continues).

Meridian High School
Metropolitan High School
Metro View High School
Tinner Hill High School
West End High School

Meridian, Metropolitan, Metro View, and West End are lame and generic. Yeah, let's rename the high school over a nearby Metro station in another jurisdiction.

And Tinner Hill is performative nonsense. FCC kicked out its Black residents and left them to the county to educate. Now FCC wants to honor the Tinner family. What a joke.

This post is like an Eagles fan ragging on the name of some other professional sports team.

West End High School. Done. Move on.

Is that a report or a prediction? So bland.

It’s official. Meridian High School and Oak Street Elementary. They voted tonight and announced to the public.

Meridian? How stupid.

It really is completely uninspired.

I like it.

The explanation: "Falls Church City Public Schools spokesman John Brett said in a release that Meridian High School gained favor with most of the board as Falls Church City is on the original 1791 meridian delineating the line between Washington, DC, and Virginia and recognizes the school’s long history of educating global citizens through the International Baccalaureate Programme."

So it wasn't pulled completely out of a hat, but it's still a bad choice.

Should’ve been called Highway View.

Nat Turner High School would be appropriate. The most courageous freedom fighter I know of from Virginia.

I am fine with Meridian but this is legitimately funny. Thanks for the laugh!
