DP. You are entirely missing the point. Racism is very real. But you diminish the real instances of racism when you throw around baseless accusations. |
Just watch the goalposts move. Your proof won't be enough. It never is. They'll pick apart each example, explain all the plausible that one example could not be racist in isolation, completely ignoring the larger pattern. |
It's only baseless if you have your head in the sand refusing to see. |
Then please tell us precisely what Piers said about Meghan that was definitely racist. Because you haven’t done that yet. |
See above explanation |
So you can’t just say it? Why not? Just tell us what Piers said about Meghan that is definitely racist. |
| The View has run it's course. Time for something new, without Osbourne. |
What is "definitely racist"? And why is that the bar now, and not just racist? Maybe if you could define what you're looking for, we could provide it. |
So now you are suggesting that people should be punished or fired for being racist even if it is not established that they were being racist? That’s not a good policy. |
When it comes to racism, much could be lost in translation and interpretation, especially coming from an ignorant white person’s point of view. How is every white person supposed to know what could possibly be perceived as racist by POC? Sure there is a baseline understanding, but there is a ton of gray area, especially from a white person’s perspective. |
Show me where I said that. And again, what is definitely racist? |
That's kind of the point. If a person of color says something was racist, perhaps consider that it might be, before you jump to defend and assume the white person has been wrongly accused. Personally, I wish that pointing out racism could be dealt with with more nuance than it currently is. This 0 tolerance stuff doesn't allow for learning. BUT when someone is in a position of power where their "ism" of any kind has the potential to create more victims, they need to be removed from that seat of power until they can wield it responsibly. Like you said there are degrees here. Some instances are inadvertent, accidental, and may have miscommunication at the root. Those don't need to be career ending. But they are no less painful for the people on the receiving end, and they should not be minimized/dismissed. To deal with them is going to require white people to let go of the overly simplistic definitions of racism that they were fed as children. |

It doesn’t really matter if piers Morgan is racist or not, people think he is racist.
The question to Sharon was “are you concerned that people think you support someone who is racist”? The crying was bizarre and her attack was very defensive. But she never really answered the question. |
I spent like 20 minutes on that post pulling all kinds of tweets. I'm no 'just going ot say it' because clogging up two converstaions with the same tweets will be terrible for anyone reading the thread |
End of thread. |
