Umm...wasn’t he fired from EVERYTHING and labeled a racist. What else are you looking for??

No, he quit and has never been labeled a racist except by The Talk.

He was fired from multiple jobs. Hasn’t been heard from in months. Who exactly are you looking for to label him? You labeled him a racist. The View labeled him. Comments on Twitter labeled him.

I did NOT label him a racist, just an a-hole. You can’t call someone a racist without proof.

All Sheryl could say is it was his “tone”. That’s not racism.

She asked for an example of him saying racists stuff. I didn’t hear any examples....

So no example, then blame Sharon. Wow

If Sharon is confused, she can do a quick Google search. Demanding a black woman to explain why this extreme white man is racist? It doesn’t make Sharon racist but her privilege and ignorance shines.

The black woman (Underwood) made the assertion - yet provided zero examples of racism. None. Osbourne had every right to be offended and disgusted. You don’t get a pass for rudely accusing someone of something they haven’t done just because you’re black.

So you didn’t actually watch the video? Bc it’s pretty clear Sheryl was trying to explain what could be construed as racist and Sharon didn’t want to hear it. Sharon screeched, wailed, cussed and wouldn’t even let her speak. And the comment that Sheryl can’t cry was ridiculous but Sharon sure knows how to play a victim and make it all about her.

Sharon made her bed by defending an as*hole of a man. A man who reached crazy stalker level by being so loud in his hate of someone he barely knows. A man who can most certainly stand up for himself. Piers didn’t need Sharon to take his side. Sharon should’ve kept her mouth close. She wanted everyone to know she stands with Piers. Now she can stand there alone and look as stupid as he does.

Sheryl’s point was never clear.

Hard to make it clear when someone is freaking the f#$k out at you.

I don't know if Piers is racist. Or what he said was racist. I loathe him regardless of that so I pay zero attention to him.

But, I watched the clip and have to say: I'm not a Sharon Osbourne fan by any means. But, i'm not quite seeing the problem. Can someone explain?

She felt attacked by her cohost (rightly or wrongly; Sharon seems a bit of a snowflake for having the persona of a badass). But when pressed on what was racist, the evidence was rather thin. Her cohost (sorry, I don't watch the show so don't know her) seemed less than persuasive as to what the particular problem was . . .

This seems much ado about nothing.

If everyone in the world reads into implications, reactions, and tone, there are going to be a lot of disgruntled people. Why can’t people just be taken at face value for the words they actually use—not how someone feels or interprets those words.

No. Educate me is a demand that someone do work for you when if you weren't so set in your world views and obstinate - you would have seen it already yourself.

Educate me is a demand to take your thoughts, actions, and history on the subject and condense it for a person who couldn't be bothered to think beyond their own circumstances.

Educate me is nothing but a gaslighting tactic and Sharon, if she hasn't been blind for 3 years, is well aware of what her 'friend' Pierce has been doing this whole time.

+1 Also, she told Sharon not to cry - the epitome of trying to control someone. She looked rageful, so defensive.

Unfortunately, after watching it, I have to agree with this.

By a show of hands, how many black women have been accused of something, even disciplined for it, based on your tone?

That's the problem with issues of race often. I can know very well that it's at the root of someone's problem with me because of the little issues of tone, word choice, discrepancies between how they treat me vs. white people. But then if I say so and so is a racist, I have to have "proof" of their racism in the form of them using a slur. It's ridiculous.

A major factor in his problems with Meghan are rooted in issues of race. I know it. You know it. Sharon knows it. Someone can be racist and not have used a slur.

His co-worker, who is half black, inferred Piers problem with Meghan is she no longer had a personal relationship with him, not race.

Interestingly, I somewhat agree with your last paragraph. Morgan is a vile, nasty bully and I personally would never want to be friends with someone like that. However, the accusations of racism are truly ridiculous. If he had said the same things about a white woman - behaved in the same aggressive, sick way - we’d be calling him out for it. But “racism” wouldn’t even be a consideration. There is nothing he has said about MM that relates to her race, in any way. At some point, when is “racism” going to stop being the go-to for so many of you?? Call the man a a$hole, but you don’t need to fabricate additional outrage.

Your understanding of what makes someone racist is surface level at best. The fact is, he didn't say the same things about a white woman, and that isn't what we're talking about. You cannot divorce her race from the issue.

It's like when you find yourself in a sexist, misogynistic environment. You can see it in the little things that are said and done, but if you point out every one of those little things, people will gaslight you with plausible explanations. But you still know what's going on, even if it isn't egregious or obvious enough for a well meaning man to also see it. Racism can work this way too.

This happens to white women too. I'm not going to make it a battle of who has it worse because obviously racism is a pernicious disease that permeates everything, but so is sexism and misogyny, which apparently are totally cool these days.
Anonymous
Part of the problem here is that misogyny has become completely acceptable (i.e., the constant barrage of "Karen" when women say anything) so while he was probably being misogynistic, people want to make it a race thing because we all agree racism is bad. But sexism/misogyny? Nah, that's still cool apparently.

You heard the co-host. It was the implication, reaction, and imo - the tone - for his complete dismissal of Meghan Markle as well as his absurd hounding.

It is possible to "completely dismiss" what someone is saying without being a racist. And I think Piers Morgan is a horrible journalist absolutely vile, but I don't think he is a racist. And I also think Sharon was right but she was aggressive and that's unacceptable.

Sharon claims this is the first show in 11 years where she was not in the group discussion of what was going to be discussed. They asked just before going on air, “ok to talk about Piers?” She said yes. Then there were pre-written cards of the questions for Sheryl to ask. Sounds like a set up to me.

Yes. Anytime you want to accuse someone of racism, you should have proof of their racism. In general, you shouldn’t accuse people of anything unless you have evidence.

Well there seems to be enough evidence for everyone, except you.

That’s not accurate. Plenty of people disagree with you.

And yet, The Talk is on hiatus. Posters are claiming Sharon has been canceled. Even the faux outrage for Sharon here doesn’t seem to actually care what happens to her.

If Sharon is fired I will no longer watch.and honestly, the show has not been that good since Julie left.

Yes. Anytime you want to accuse someone of racism, you should have proof of their racism. In general, you shouldn’t accuse people of anything unless you have evidence.

What would constitute "proof"? Who gets to decide?

Because right now it seems like white people get to decide, and only the most obvious and egregious examples count, while the real every day experiences of racism get dismissed as not being "actual racism" and we're told not to "cheapen" the accusation of racism.

Every person gets to decide for themselves. We all have free will. But accusations alone are never sufficient. If you throw around accusations of racism but don’t or can’t back them up, it becomes a “boy who cried wolf” situation. You’re not actually helping black people by making accusations of racism that you can’t support.

Well it seems like, in this situation their employers get to decide for themselves, and the burden of proof was met for them. So, conversation over? Or do we also need your approval, despite your inability to specify what counts as the proof you continue to demand.

What would be sufficient proof? Can someone please explain? If you're going to require proof, can you at least tell us what would be proof enough for you?

It's gaslighting and goalposts moving. There is never enough proof.

We all watched a video of a man sitting on another man's neck while he slowly suffocated him to death for no apparent reason. But he didn't call him the N-word, so no racism, I guess.

Piers has been on air for YEARS. And no one can find one racist comment?
