I think we all know masks and social distancing is different than “kids can’t use the playground” and “fully vaccinated and masked teachers cannot approach a crying child to help them” |
Just out of curiosity, why would 10 feet be miserable and 6 feet be fine? I do think that people for whom the benefits of returning to the classroom are so small that 10 feet vs 6 feet is your decision factor, need to stay home. That's kind of the whole point of mitigation -- if it's possible for you to make a small sacrifice for gains, do so. If you need something, then get it as safely as you can. If you need your kid in school due to mental health (yours or the kid's) or economic factors, then take a slot, but if you're going to have a tantrum over a few feet, then you probably don't need it. |
Bingo. It's unreal. |
NBD I don’t understand the outrage. |
What makes you think that private schools don't have similar restrictions? The ones I know do. |
I mean let’s be honest… Most people think that 6 feet is really 4 feet, or closer. Setting a 10 foot limit will probably won’t keep kids from being right up in each others faces anyway. Seems seems like a silly thing to be so upset about. I’m just really happy they’re going to be able to go back in some capacity very soon. At least the younger kids. |
I never said 6 feet would be “fine.” I think outdoors, masked, & moving around kids should be able to just play how they want But this was just one factor. Kids being trapped at their desks all day was another big factor. |
Yes. It’s 10’ and masked in FCPS too (which I think is overkill), but it’s the same distancing rule pools had to follow last summer. While in the pool everyone was supposed to maintain at least 10’ because the VDH said while you are being active the viral spread is wider. In Phase 3 families had to maintain 10’ from other families. At my school we have been told individuals can use jump ropes and balls. Students will be able to kick balls to each other. Equipment will be sprayed down with Virex afterward. |
Look be serious. Recess they need to be apart. It’s unfortunate but social distancing is required or every child on the playground is a contact once contact tracing commences |
I’m finding that APS parents will find any reason to complain. A mom at our school had her nose out in joint because recess would only by class. Hence, No time to socialize with her kid’s friends in other classes. 🙄 just wait till after school when they won’t need a 10 foot bubble! |
Private schools are not having kids sit at their chrome books doing distance learning lessons in the classroom all day. Stop. |
A close contact is within 6 feet indoors for more than 15 minutes (masks or not). Not outdoors for 15 minutes briefly passing right by each other on the playground |
Well, that was silly. |
Come on now. No you didn’t. APS has been going downhill for a long time. |
Yes, and? Private schools work on a different scale and have fewer resources. Not sure why you think it’s relevant to compare. |
