APS = kicking a soccer ball is an unacceptable high risk activity that must be banned

So much for science.

So much EXPERTS

You bet they are, just like they are all over the country.

But there, the mask b.s. at recess and passive-aggressive punitive policies will no doubt be draconian and enforced with insipid moralizing by over-paid insecure fear mongering adult hall monitors to boot.

Get out while you can. Get your Kids out ASAP. Not just a meme.

It's ridiculous. APS is different for some reason?

All the APS soccer, flag football and basketball kids have been playing in outdoor leagues/games face-to-face all Fall/winter so this is ridiculous.

Exactly - I can't make sense of their decisions.

I never understood why they opened sports.

Because outdoor exercise is among the safest things people can do during this pandemic, and it's important for kids' mental and physical health. Wrestling, karate, indoor high-touch sports are not a good idea, but soccer? Baseball? Tennis? Basketball? Come on, PP.

WHAT!?! What are they trying to accomplish, further damage to our kids' and students' mental health? What is the logic? I think APS is punishing families that want to return.

OMG do you know how many kids across the country have no recess.

Get them learning then worry about recess. Priorites.

Honestly, then keep your kids home. We opted virtual in part because we don’t trust the safety protocols but also because we knew our kids would get more opportunities to move and also get outside if they stayed home.

the 6-foot indoor rule will be reduced soon anyway. There's no way the 10 feet rule outside will remain very long.

Made the same decision for the same reason in Alexandria, where they are not letting kids use playgrounds and my student would still be learning virtually with most of her teachers anyway (they aren’t allowing older elementary students rotate through for their classes and they change teachers by subject). Would much rather they be able to get up and move or get outside throughout the day rather than be chained to a desk in one classroom.

The thing that got my attention is that part of the 5:30 am health check includes a certification that you will abide by certain practices in your own family, even if your kid remains virtual, and one of those things is that you and your children will remain 10 feet apart from others and wear masks when engaging in physical activity outdoors.

I just noticed this thanks to you pointing it out. LOL to limiting touching of surfaces to only when necessary. This is just not anywhere close to something that is an issue.
