I don’t think there is a reason to stay even six feet apart at recess. They are outdoor, with masks, and they are moving around. I kind of get it if some kids are just sitting next to each other all recess but this really is far from necessary based on research.

Two weeks ago the issue du jour was outdoor lunch. This past week was concurrent learning. This week will be recess and bussing. |
Meanwhile, at the Catholic school in my neighborhood (not APS, but another Va. district), kids have been running around outside, maskless, with no apparent distancing efforts, 5 days a week, since September. |
Recess, to me, is one of the few benefits of actually sending mine. But you know what? I bet a) it’ll loosen up and b) they’ll like it. |
My kids are staying DL and I agree with the above. 100 kid lunches planned at my middle school is unsafe based on the science. Outdoor recess should be masked with “no physical contact” but no enforced distancing beyond that. For gods sake they are outside. Kids are playing outdoor sports very successfully. APS insists on moving forward with 100 kid INDOOR lunches at 6 feet but these are this is the rule for outdoor. Irrational. Which is why I’m keeping my kids home. Don’t trust their decision making when it comes to my kids health. |
Well.... I’m not down with massless yet. In my pod, sure. But that’s it. |
Massless! |
Maskless!! |
Lol ok. |
Please post your listing. Many looking. |
+1 They will figure this out. No need to bunch up panties unnecessarily. |
Especially in 22207, 22213 |
+1. This stopped being about science a long time ago. |
Please just keep your kids DL if you’re going to have an aneurysm about every stupid thing about hybrid. It’s either too many precautions or not enough.
If you’d like a bespoke educational experience curated to your liking, perhaps hire a governess. |
I was not told this as a staff member in south Arlington. I have a town hall at my school and my child's next week and I will ask for confirmation. |
