YUP - teachers complained they didn't have childcare today so APS closed.. So many working mothers/families have been battling this for almost a year. The bias is unbelievable and I don't understand how APS gets away with this. Curious of what's happening with that lawsuit - anyone have any insight? |
Oh? Is that why they closed. I thought it was concern over power loss. You people are too much. Hatred is ugly. Directing it at teachers is comical. |
|
When a snow day is called, someone is always pissed off. Teachers on AEM complain about lots of things. You’re stupid if you think APS takes all of it seriously.
|
And I should add, parents bitch about plenty of stupid things, too. |
That's a scenario specific to Glebe -- they have the model where each teacher only teaches one subject. Our elementary school has had a single teacher teaching all subjects, so they won't have the same experience. APS should do more to standardize across neighborhood schools. That having been said, elementary kids will have had two days off a week (not counting asynchronous Mondays) every week in February. I think that's why people are complaining. |
Lmao you mean this lawsuit? https://www.gofundme.com/f/virginia-school-lawsuit-round-2 Has he even filed the first one and he's begging for more money? He's only 1% into his second round lmao. Someone is stealing money here. What a joke. |
Most teachers I know are working moms. |
He’s an asshole. He’ll never win, but he’ll succeed in draining resources from APS throughout the litigation. |
Interesting are they most ES teachers? DD 10 has 2 teachers both unmarried. DD 12 has 7 teachers and only one is a working mom. Others are empty nesters, men (both married with kids) or single women. Interesting to think about. |
I don’t have any data, but I’m pretty damn sure. There ARE singles and men, though. It happens. |
This is a lie. They closed because the feds closed out of worry about ice storms and a lack of power. Next time, if you don't know the facts, shut up. |
My point is, there are plenty, plenty, plenty of working teacher moms. It is a demanding profession, and they are in the same boat as you. |
At our ES there is not a lot of working moms. However, if you look around the Arlington community, tons of working moms & dads, double-income is necessary given the cost of housing (that was supposed to be worth it due to the high-quality education, gasp).. this is in-part why everyone is fuming at another unnecessary day off of school. |
| Another day, another (un)creative way to complain. y’all need a new hobby. That’s right, I said y’all! |
It’s not in the website, on the email, or in a text message. I don’t have Facebook. I am fine with a snow day but I don’t think wanting an explanation on somewhere besides a social media platform I don’t use is unreasonable (or means I don’t have a life or know how to look stuff up). |
