| Sorry but this was a bit surprising, that distance learning was cancelled. In the past they would switch all students to distance learning, guess they are preparing us for what is to come with hybrid model. RST Spring! |
| Hope your kids enjoy their day off |
With no snow. Ice, sleet yes, but no snow. Fun times to play outside.
|
| Sure didn't take long for the APS parental whining to start. |
PP. Not complaining just wondering why. It makes no sense. My public school kid is older and I don't care what they do today. Go outside and play in the ice.
|
Not complaining just surprised. I'm actually happy as no school gives me a break to focus on my job, and not balancing between my kindergarterDS school and my work
|
Ice is WORSE . It’s way more dangerous for school employees to go in on ice. |
Way more dangerous to get to your computer?? I get closing buildings. That makes sense. DL? Too icy between your kitchen and office??? |
Do you understand that if schools are considered open for the day, nutrition staff HAS to report. Why? Because meals HAVE to be provided on a sxhool day. Custodians HAVE to report. Admin HAS to report. Any federally mandated schedules tests like ACCESS/WIDA HAVE to happen? No of course you don’t because the world revolves around you and hating teachers. |
NP. You need to calm down a bit. |
The buildings were already closed for the day, so no those people weren't reporting. I really DGAF but canceling DL is beyond ridiculous. My kid is a senior and we're beyond done with APS but I feel for the people who have to work and have little kids. |
This is true. If virtual learning still takes place, certain staff members still have to report in person (food service staff was an excellent example.) With a closure, reporting is now limited to essential personnel. |
You keep saying you don’t care but your posting about it says otherwise. |
As I stated. Closing buildings doesn’t mean it’s not a school day. This is the time of year federally mandated WIDA testing is taking place. You cannot do it online. If it’s a school day, those tests have to happen. If it’s a school day MEALS HAVE to be provided . You can’t just close buildings and still have a school day because there are certain things tied to having a school day that don’t go away if buildings are closed. |
| I wish APS would explain. Why do they hand down decisions like this and just watch everybody speculate and bicker? |
