Voters are waiting in line for hours in Georgia

Wow. Those lines in GA are long.

JUSK KIDDING.
Those are lines in VA. Are they suppressing the vote there too?????
Waiting 4 hours to vote in VA is awesome but waiting 4 hours to vote in GA is voter suppression?
I need the new liberal rule book.

In some parts of Virginia, people waited in line up to four hours to cast their ballots on the first day of early voting, according to the Washington Post.

The big picture: The COVID-19 pandemic seems to already have an impact on how people cast their votes this election season. As many as 80 million Americans are expected to vote early, by mail or in person, Tom Bonier, CEO of TargetSmart, a Democratic political data firm, told Axios in August.

Are you arguing that there should be lines to vote? This is evidence to move to all mail in ballots like western states with a month to return them. Too many people get to the polls without researching what’s on the ballot. VA has long constitutional amendments and Arlington has five bond issues.

No, I am saying that you people are acting like a bunch of Henny Pennys claiming "voter suppression" where there is none.

Lines were long in GA on the first day of early voting. The same damned thing happened in VA, but I recall everyone here talking about how great that was that people were getting out to vote.
What a bunch of hypocrites.

No, we all said the same thing there, too. It’s great to see the enthusiasm, it’s a travesty that people have to wait in lines like this. This is sad, third world sht.

Calm down everyone. My in laws voted early in person here in highly populated NOVA. They said it took them about 3 minutes. Yes, at some point in time on some day of the week there may be a line. Big deal. Come back the next day, or come back on Election Day, or mail in a vote. Lots of options. The important thing is to vote.

When you see crowds that means silent Trump voters. Sorry but true.

Bull$hit. We have the receipts:

Some of the comments:

"This is looking awesome"
"Go Virginia! Make us proud!"
"+1. Keep up the good work, VA!"
"I've never been happier to say I know Virginians. Keep it up. Let's get that Purple Wave."

I didn't see one post accusing VA of "voter suppression" because of the long lines.

Um, there are 22 more days until the election (and 16 more days with the polls open). I don't know why so many people are trying to vote on the first day the polls open.

Really? Don't you know why?

A vote today counts the same as a vote on October 28 or November 3. But if people prefer to wait in line, then that is their choice.

Out of fear that the lines will be worse next week

Oh and we can TOTALLY trust a Trumpster to select all the relevant message and not exclude the ones that say lines are a shame, can’t we?

12 hours. Hang your damn equivocating head in shame.

No. If there is higher turnout than expected and voters in Buckhead and predominantly minority neighborhoods in other Atlanta suburbs have four hour waits, that is ridiculous in a first world country but not active suppression. If the Buckhead voter has no line and her minority counterparts have a four hour line at the same time, that is suppression. This isn’t rocket science.

Sure, but that hasn’t happened this election. Lines to vote ACROSS Georgia were hours long, regardless. Yet you claim certain neighborhoods (black) were having their votes suppressed while others (white) - with equally long lines - weren’t.

Face it, you are making things up. Not a good look.

God you're stupid. The waiting in and of itself is not what makes it voter suppression. The (documented, factual reality) discrepancy in wait times and accessibility to voting machines in minority districts vs. white districts IS THE ISSUE. You can post all the photos of white people waiting in line that you want. It does not change the demonstrable fact that POC wait significantly longer to vote in this country, and that it is BY DESIGN.

“Voter suppression,” my a$$. Plenty of voters - of ALL races - have waited in line for hours to vote, across the country. As the PP said, if you want to vote early on the very first day, be prepared for a long wait. Early voters in Fairfax waited hours too. Was that “suppression”? The constant victimhood mentality is beyond exhausting.

Don't you understand that NOBODY should have to wait in hours to vote? THE WAITING IS SUPPRESSION. It is DESIGNED to make it harder to exercise your franchise. Why would you try to normalize it? Is it just this puritanical "we must suffer, if we don't it's not American" attitude? That is harmful, stupid, and wrong!

Um, maybe because Indigenous People's Day (or Columbus Day as they still call it in GA) is a state/fed holiday there. Maybe these folks are taking advantage of the one day where they won't miss work or have to burn leave to vote.

I absolutely hate it when Democrats refer to black people as “folks.”
DP

A lot of people use the word folks to refer to people generally. I use it all the time and never thought anyone was using it to refer specifically to black people.

- Black woman who uses "folks"

Me, too.

- White woman who uses "folks"

Look at their faces. Their ages, their races. Their posturing and confidence.

There aren’t as many trump voters as you think. Most communication is non verbal. Get your surfboards out!
