Me three - black person that thinks folks are trippin’ |
And let them eat cake while they do it! Calm down, there's plenty of cake! And anyway even if you don't get to vote it's just four more years of the rapist in chief behaving like someone you'd institutionalize if he wasn't in the WH. What's the big deal? |
My gosh. Some of you are such idiots. Nobody HAS to wait hours to vote 3 weeks prior to election day. It is their choice. If they arrive at a polling place and don't like the line, they can return another time. This was the FIRST day of early voting. I guarantee you that lines will diminish. JUST LIKE THEY DID IN VIRGINIA. |
True, but then they might miss their window to vote all together, so it is worth it for them to wait and cast their vote. Not everyone has the flexibility, means, transportation etc eto just pop by a polling place whenever. |
NP. You’re being extra PP. Most people can find a time over the next few weeks. |
Columbus Day is a holiday for a lot of people. Most people don’t want to take off work to vote if there’s a better alternative. Which is why we should make Election Day a federal holiday if we really want people to vote. We can dump Columbus Day . |
Same here! -white woman who thinks "folks" is a warm way of saying "people". |
+1 Asian female who uses it all the time, including at work. Ridiculous thing to be concerned about. |
Yup, heavy turnout will cause lines of all races. |
|
I've been a poll worker. In my county there are less voting machines available on early voting days and less poll workers on site on early voting days.
I've seen lines in rich and poor neighborhoods. Folks in these lines are white, brown, black and asian. Generally there will be lines in the early mornings and lines after 5:00 pm. |
-1 white female. I do not use folks as I have heard from or read enough about black people indicating that they felt the word was disrespectful and intended to minimize, etc. I use the word to refer to other white folks, but not in reference to other races/ethnicities. |
| Of course there is voter suppression in Virginia. It just isn't enough to counteract the sheer number of people voting for Democrats. |

I think Barack Obama was the greatest President certainly in my lifetime. The only thing that grated on me was that he would always say "folks" when he meant "people". |
