Looting, looks to be small scale, in Tenelytown and Friendship Heights.

It 100% is. So keep the conversation on WHY the protests are happening in the first place. Lord and Taylors has insurance. They'll be fine.

Lord & Taylor is poised for bankruptcy and possible liquidation. Rodman’s is a small family owned business struggling through the pandemic. They will not be “fine.”

That sucks. George Floyd is dead.

This isn’t about George Floyd anymore. It’s about a DC criminal class that is on a wilding binge.

I'm sure that would be a more comfortable topic for you. But the fact is that the protests are about police murdering black people, without consequence, for decades.

The protests are, the violence and destruction of property is not. Protesters and rioters/looters are different (though one individual may play both roles ). But looting Rodmans does not help reduce police mistreatment or blacks. Just causes harm and makes it easy for people to dismiss the protesters’ message. As does breaking into the Nike store - sadly screams I want fancy shoes much more thank want to engage in civil disobedience in a way that most effectively moves the anti-police bias message forward. Really undermines the message unfortunately.

Violent protests didn't save Floyd's life.

Can you see that? Can you understand that?

Looting , setting fires, grafitti, carjacking and assault is the homage to George Floyd's life?

+1. We've never been willing to commit resources to saving black lives. We instantly deploy tanks and the national guard to protect property damage, but black people are told to patiently wait for us to get around to uprooting systemic racism and murder in America's police force. Cops have infinite money to spend on overtime and paramilitary supplies, but we don't have the resources for real anti-discrimination measures. Black people are told to find some magical, non-existent protest method to change minds without being too disruptive before we'll even consider attempting to stop legal lynchings by police, but we snap to defend property owners. This is insane.

Oh that's right, I forgot how supportive everyone was of the message of Colin Kaepernick's protests.

There is no magic protest method that will win the hearts and minds of white america without causing them a moment's discomfort. Blaming the protests for failing to meet an impossible standard is a trick to silence the message behind the protest.

You’re correct but looting and rioting are 100% guaranteed to alienate the vast majority of lawful Americans from the cause.

If only that were true.

Chauvin wasn't afraid of prosecution. He still isn't.

"Violent" protests got women the vote. "Violent" protests at Stonewall lead to legal protections for gay people. The '68 riots lead to the Civil Rights Act. If you want protests to stay peaceful, then you need to effect change WHILE THEY ARE PEACEFUL.

This was the peaceful protest. We missed our chance to respond.

If the police are going to kill you on camera with impunity when you're nonviolent, then why not get something good before they kill you?

This is a mindset that is baffling to you. Because you don't understand and don't think.

Lots of things to consider before you let fear change your politics. 80% of those arrested in Minneapolis were affiliated with white supremacy groups and were outside instigators. How do we know that the same thing is not happening in DC and other cities around the country.

You'd better have a cite for this. Because I call it out as fake news crap.

Unless, of course, antifa is a "white supremacy group".

Most of the people arrested in Minneapolis had Minnesota addresses. https://www.twincities.com/2020/05/30/majority-of-those-arrested-in-connection-with-protests-riots-from-minnesota/

It's pure speculation by paranoid politicians that some bogeyman white nationalists are causing the riots. Just turn on your TV. Who's doing the looting? Ain't white nationalists. Because white nationalists aren't, you know, not white people.

Kneeling quietly during the National Anthem isn't the "right way" to protest.

Sit ins don't get results.

Petitions don't get results.

Marches don't get results.

That's the issue. Protests that don't make the majority culture uncomfortable haven't gotten results. That's not the protesters' fault. That's on us.

It's been this way since the Boston Tea Party.

Making me uncomfortable by burning down my city and threatening my safety is going to change my opinion but not in the way intended.
