Looting, looks to be small scale, in Tenelytown and Friendship Heights.

If the police are going to kill you on camera with impunity when you're nonviolent, then why not get something good before they kill you?

This is a mindset that is baffling to you. Because you don't understand and don't think.

DP. Yes, seeing this tragedy as an opportunity to steal a television is baffling to me. You obviously have lower standards for the behavior of the black community.

It 100% is. So keep the conversation on WHY the protests are happening in the first place. Lord and Taylors has insurance. They'll be fine.

Lord & Taylor is poised for bankruptcy and possible liquidation. Rodman’s is a small family owned business struggling through the pandemic. They will not be “fine.”

That sucks. George Floyd is dead.

This isn’t about George Floyd anymore. It’s about a DC criminal class that is on a wilding binge.

I'm sure that would be a more comfortable topic for you. But the fact is that the protests are about police murdering black people, without consequence, for decades.

The protests are, the violence and destruction of property is not. Protesters and rioters/looters are different (though one individual may play both roles ). But looting Rodmans does not help reduce police mistreatment or blacks. Just causes harm and makes it easy for people to dismiss the protesters’ message. As does breaking into the Nike store - sadly screams I want fancy shoes much more thank want to engage in civil disobedience in a way that most effectively moves the anti-police bias message forward. Really undermines the message unfortunately.

Violent protests didn't save Floyd's life.

Can you see that? Can you understand that?

Fixed it for you

Oh that's right, I forgot how supportive everyone was of the message of Colin Kaepernick's protests.

There is no magic protest method that will win the hearts and minds of white america without causing them a moment's discomfort. Blaming the protests for failing to meet an impossible standard is a trick to silence the message behind the protest.

You’re correct but looting and rioting are 100% guaranteed to alienate the vast majority of lawful Americans from the cause.

"Violent" protests got women the vote. "Violent" protests at Stonewall lead to legal protections for gay people. The '68 riots lead to the Civil Rights Act. If you want protests to stay peaceful, then you need to effect change WHILE THEY ARE PEACEFUL.

This was the peaceful protest. We missed our chance to respond.

You should learn a bit more about history before posting. The bold above is wrong. The Civil Rights Act was in 1964. The 68 riots were after the death of MLK.

I think we just need to understand that the DMV is full of closeted racists. We’re never going to change their minds.

The police are afraid of prosecution at this point. It’s horribly sad all around

The police are afraid of prosecution? Is that why they're shooting the press with rubber bullets despite visible press credentials? Is that why they're shooting rubber bullets at people sitting on their front porch? Is that why they're driving SUVs over protesters, pulling masks off of protesters with their hands raised and macing them, shoving old men with canes for failing to move fast enough, tear gassing people sitting in peacefully 40 minutes before a curfew starts? Because they've been cowed by all the successful police prosecutions in this country? What color is the sky in your world?

My apologies. I meant to refer to the 1964 Harlem race riots.
