This isn’t about George Floyd anymore. It’s about a DC criminal class that is on a wilding binge. |
A man is dead and you’re worried about poor people getting a few more bucks a month? Gross. |
Here’s what I don’t get: why didn’t they extend the perimeter when the protesters were setting fires by Lafayette and St. John’s?
There was live coverage there in the hour leading up to it, and the police didn’t arrive until the restrooms and street bonfire had been burning for 30 minutes. They let things get out of control, then they played cat and mouse for a couple hours chasing the protesters towards NW and Georgetown while others headed towards metro center. They can’t have protesters after dark. All it yields is trouble. The only peaceful protest I saw yesterday was at the Lincoln memorial. |
No, there’s looters. There’s also antifa. And white supremacist agitators. But there are also many, many more people genuinely scared, angry, and grieving over how communities of color are policed in 21st c America. If you can’t see that, you are a part of the problem. |
I'm sure that would be a more comfortable topic for you. But the fact is that the protests are about police murdering black people, without consequence, for decades. |
You guys should see the destruction. I can't believe this is happening in my neighborhood. I have no sympathy for looting. |
This is going to fall on deaf ears but if you rob certain people of opportunities systematically and blatantly discriminate against them and kill them in broad daylight, some of them may turn violent and engage in criminal activity because they have very little to lose. More policing and incarceration clearly have not addressed issues stemming from inequality and oppression effectively in the last century although it may please some of you to see some people get arrested for breaking into Gucci. |
This type of destruction will only embolden corrupt police. That's exactly what happened with the riots in the late 60s, Neo-conservatives helped build the infrastructure that gave us broken windows and decreased community efforts to self-police. They created a narrative of dysfunction to scare white people. This does not do justice to George Floyd. |
You just made that stat up. It is widely being reported that those arrested in Minneapolis were from Minneapolis. Even the Governor changed his statement to reflect that the rioters were local. |

The protests are, the violence and destruction of property is not. Protesters and rioters/looters are different (though one individual may play both roles ). But looting Rodmans does not help reduce police mistreatment or blacks. Just causes harm and makes it easy for people to dismiss the protesters’ message. As does breaking into the Nike store - sadly screams I want fancy shoes much more thank want to engage in civil disobedience in a way that most effectively moves the anti-police bias message forward. Really undermines the message unfortunately. |
Yeah - I'm scared and disgusted. I don't want my neighborhood burned and vandalized, thanks. This is just opportunism. Grab a TV . . . |
This was totally coordinated earlier yesterday by the thug element wanting new designer clothing: Hundreds of these tweets asking for specific sizes and items for the looters to get.

Bowser is totally OK with the whole city being looted and burned. Disgusting. |
Peaceful protests didn't save Floyd's life. Can you see that? Can you understand that? |
