I paid so Im not being rude but you should possibly reeval your definition of "robbed". I think there is a very low possibility that they will be doing full games in the fall. We'll be lucky to get scrimmages. Practices are the most likely at least until 2021. At least if you set your expectations low now, you wont be on here cussing out the entire DCUM like some of these other posters in a rage. |
Perhaps the PP should have used a different term. However, the more relevant question is, if there are no league games and tournaments as you expect and keep your expectations low, but you are paying the same amount as in prior years, are you getting a good value? |

I have a rising U13 player that wants to continue travel. I dont mind doing it for them from a time/payment standpoint however with the uncertainty I wonder if the first half of the season will ever happen more so since this spring season was a wash. I guess I am curious regardless of the level of play are parents considering going to rec for year? I am sort of leaning in that direction but will get an earful from my player but I am sure will conform to just keep playing.
I am not trying to restart the opinions on COVID. Just looking for some different perspectives on travel soccer for the year. Like most our club will be accepting returning players. |
Depends on clubs in your area. Everywhere, there are some good and some bad. What area are you in? |
You can look at the travel lite programs or smaller club. Some of those places are 1/2 the cost of travel and you can pay by the season(fall or spring). |
No, but rec doesn't even exist at my child's age (U14) in my area. The fees aren't a stretch for us, and he really likes his teammates, a core group has been together for 4 to 5 years now, so we are sticking with club. |
Yes- I think its a good value considering the times. To expect 100% normalcy in the fall is ridiculous. And for those that expect that, those are the ones who chose not to pay for travel- which is fine. My son is very young though- u9. We are not really interested in tournaments either way. He is really in it to continue to develop skills as much as possible with his coach who he works great with and to stay active. |
there is another thread on hear a week or 2 ago on this topic, you may want to read those responses.. lost of ppl are going to rec. You can consider switching to travel in the spring. |
| The club wears light blue jerseys and other is black. Based out of MoCo and uses St. Johns HS field for practices - owner is the coach there. |
Burke/Springfield area. |
Seems it was a bit early during the shutdown so I wanted some new opinions based off clubs making offers etc. |
At U9, you can have him play rec for a year and not miss a beat. My kids are older so it is a tougher choice for us. We enrolled them for the next season after our club adopted "no play no pay" policy so only the initial deposit will be lost, if the season does not start. |
| After tonight’s town hall, we are definitely holding off on commitment. |
this! |
| What is the general policy if you commit but leave before practices start in the fall? Are you still on the hook for the full fee? |
