But I'm guessing (?) that most students who don't have access to computers also won't have access to WiFi. Am I wrong about this? Are there solutions that I'm missing? Can most cell phones be used to tether to computers?

Comcast is offering free WiFi to low income families

I have a 1st and 4th grader. Thanks.

I got this one a few years ago for my then-4th grader:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y31BH12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I picked it because it had the flip touch screen that makes it easier to edit those silly videos kids post to their classroom accounts.

DCUM user posting from an internet enabled computer: How do I get one!!!!???

To clarify, MCPS wants students to have a computer that they can complete their assignments on. That doesn’t include a phone that leaves home with Dad from 8 am to 6 pm or the work-issued laptop that mom telecommutes from 9 am to 5 pm.

So dad is working 10 hour days and mom has a job that gives her a laptop to telecommute, but the family hasn't thought about getting a computer before now? Really?

I asked because the high schools only offered this on Thursday morning and I didn't get there on time

I would contact the school to see if they will be additional distributions.

You can use any computer with chrome installed. Apparently you’ll be able to use iPads. You don’t have to have a chrome book specifically let alone one from the school.

An iPad doesn't synch up the same, the columns were all off, shifted and typed over.
We learned that the hard way when my son tried to fill in his homework this year.

Not if they have kids in early elementary.
Your entitlement is showing.

Your entitlement reeks.

Maybe Dad needs his computer to work. Mom needs her computer to work. And there is one computer at home and 2 or 3 kids who cannot be at that one computer at the same time in the morning conferencing with each of their teachers. And maybe the parents decided that buying each kid an ipad is not necessary for whatever reason.

Anyone who pays taxes should be able to get one if they need it when the county is giving these to students who need it. It does not mention financial need. Just a need for a computer.

Most didn’t need it for ES.

They need them in middle school. Most kids have tablets and they can use those.

Two good jobs can afford one.

Thank you for posting these links. I didn't look at them since I don't have the budget for 3 computers now. But would you be kind enough to purchase these too and send it to my address for my 3 kids since I am not allowed to pick up a chromebook at school, considering my family is not poor.

We have other obligations that I do not feel like discussing with you, and do not want to buy 3 computers now, but since you are so so kind, I would appreciate it if you can buy us these.

Thank you for your consideration.

Exactly. People need to get off their high horses. You have no idea what people’s situations are.

Maybe you should have thought about the expenses with three kids before having them. If your family isn't poor, how sad for your kids that you cannot afford computers for each of them.

If you are living in a million dollar house and justify it because of the good schools and yet cannot afford a computer for your kid something is off. There are some on here who truly cannot afford it and save the computers for them. I don't get how you live comfortably and yet, cannot afford a computer for your kids.
