We have a chromebook which one kid uses and another one is using Dad's work computer whenever needed (we have just one home computer which everyone uses and no ipads). Would it be wrong if we picked one for one of our kids? Does the partial access to the home computer or work computer count? I'm on the fence about picking one up but DH says it should be fine.

If you can afford to buy one, buy one. I find is absurd people living in expensive houses (assuming you are) can buy everything else but a laptop. Save one for those who really need it and cannot afford it.

MCCPTA sent out an email saying every child should have their own access, so pick up a Chromebook, if needed so each child has their own.

It is a legit concern but the PPs suggestion re: offering to wipe them all down is a reasonable one. People who complain without offering to be a part of the solution are just background noise.

I’m the person who wrote about being concerned about chromebooks being disinfected. I’m a teacher in MCPS and I’m also immunocompromised. At my school we are not allowed to have kids use Clorox wipes or any spray cleaner, so I do it for them while wearing gloves. I know many teachers who never clean the chromebooks their students use. I hope parents are cleaning the ones they’re picking up from schools and will also clean them before returning them to schools.

But, no, I’m not going to offer to go to the school and clean all the chromebooks in our current status. People can take a little personal responsibility if they’re using a device provided by the school.

My neighbor teaches at private school that is praised on this board. She is having difficulty adjusting to online teaching as well as her 4th grade class. She doesn't feel she had training and that the roll out was too fast.

My MCPS doesn’t use Acer. They use Lenovo.

Pre-March, some schools banned Clorox wipes. That ban ended. They were handing them out at all schools until the warehouse ran out.
