The email said that teachers are also eligible for a laptop.

I haven’t seen the distribution details for that.

Can the school work be done on an iPad?

No one knows what it will entail, but I would say no unless you have an external keyboard for it.

I imagine this will be in the core hours of the day. Would help to know because with 2 WFH parents and now 2 kiddos on their chrome books, I imagine even the top data plan with Verizon will not be enough! 😅😂

Would they all have to be on at a certain time? I imagine it's just a bunch of reading and assignments they do when they want to, or by a certain deadline.

MCPS elementary teacher here...we were told today by our admin that we would be able to get a chromebook if we need one. Not sure as of yet how or when we will get one

There were a few options being floated around, but I'm not sure which one they decided on. One option was something like 9:00-11:45 daily--don't quote me on the times. Another option was much more flexible--more like teachers post assignments on Monday and students complete them by Friday. There was a third option but it made very little sense so I doubt they went with that one. I'd assume (hope) they go with the more flexible option, but who knows. It will be a mystery until they announce it.

I heard some parts are recorded so you can access at a later time for elementary.

The below came from WJ's principal earlier today regarding teachers.
Btw, I can't speak on principal's from other schools, but WJ's principal Ms. Baker is extremely detail oriented and really on the ball with sending out communications, which may be the reason we received something so early today.
We've had kids in elementary, middle and high school and she's always the first communication out of all three.

"Teachers who need a Chromebook, because you do not have another device at home may also come to the Clock Entrance and we will have a separate table set up for staff."

The largest homeless shelter in the county is in the Whitman district.

Its not that large - Greentree and most are families with younger kids. Greentree also has a computer room on site. It only serves 13 families. If you are going to comment, know what you are talking about. At best its 20-30 school aged kids.
