If you could revoke the drivers licenses of bad drivers... what would be the offenses?

I hate these people will all of my being. Nothing gets my blood boiling more. Why do you think it's ok to cut in line?? Would you do it at the grocery store?

It’s not like the grocery store. There’s no “line.” If there are two lanes and one is backed up for miles, I’m going to cruise up closer to the exit and take a gap. I’m breaking no laws and endangering no one. It’s easy to find a gap these days since many of you are looking at your phones anyway. Now THAT’S the real danger.

Uh, that "backed up for miles" is called a line. I agree that people shouldn't be looking at their phones, but two wrongs don't make a right - you are an entitled, selfish jerk. And probably a Maryland driver.

No, that’s not a “line.” There’s no such traffic control or motor vehicle definition. And I’m breaking no law.

You may not be breaking a law. But I’m not breaking a law when I don’t let you merge either. I’m not letting you in. Some sucker will, but it won’t be me.

That’s the point. Nobody has to let me in. The natural flow of traffic will easily accommodate more vehicles slipping into the gaps than that single column of vehicles backing up in the right lane. Anyway, when you aggressively speed up to try to block me, all you’re doing is creating a nice gap behind you for me to slide into, so thank you very much!

I think that you are just proving PP's point that you are an entitled, selfish jerk.

Not PP but no matter how selfish and entitled you think we are, there’s always going to be a lowest common denominator who lets us in. So you might as well relax and not get so mad about it.

I go right up as far as I can then when there’s a break I pull in. I don’t mind if others do it and I let them in. Scientifically it actually speeds up the process. Google it. You should be thinking me and those like me.

IF there is a break. Admit it, often you are forcing a break. Which slows things down.

This is exactly why I hate the exit to 495 off Connecticut in Chevy Chase. There is a solid line FFS. That means do not merge and yet every day people bypass the line of cars to try to cut in. I seriously think they need to put some of those flexible poles up that prevent last mi Ute merges (like they put on Bradley at Wisconsin)

I love how the people who defend this behavior always say "OMG learn what a ZIpPer merge is; I am SOOOOO much smarter than everyone else because I know it is more efficient."

Just stop. We know what a zipper merge is- it is when two lanes are merging and each car takes a turn at the chokepoint. It is NOT when the right lane is for exiting and you are traveling in the through lane until the last minute to avoid the line so you force a break that slows everyone behind down.

When I'm driving, I turn left when I think it's safe, not when the driver behind me thinks it's safe. And honking at me isn't going to get me to go when I think it's not safe.

Ok. And I don’t mind honking until you reach that point. Just so you realize what an incompetent driver you are.

Please don't do this if you are in the city. You are only punishing nearby pedestrians who hear the honks much louder than the person in front of you (who probably isn't going to actually move forward just because you are honking)
