Another one that enrages me:
Drivers who won't let you back into traffic when you have pulled over to allow an emergency vehicle to pass. Why? Do I need to be punished for obeying the law? |
|
The other day I was driving on the 25mph, 2-lane street leaving our neighborhood. Stopped at a crosswalk to yield to an elderly guy with a walker. While I'm stopped, waiting for him to cross, the car behind me comes screaming up to my tail, pulls around me, and drives right through the crosswalk while the pedestrian is directly in front of my car.
That driver gets my vote for having his license yanked. |
I see this ALL the time. People are such idiots. |
|
Drivers who know they need to make a turn coming up and instead of getting into the correct lane further back, they wait until the last minute to try and get over and end up blocking the through lane so that no one behind them can go.
I also loathe drivers who try to scoot through an intersection at the last minute and then block it. They knew damn well traffic wasn't going to clear before the yellow light turned red, yet they went anyway and then sit blocking the intersection. |
| The person today on 29 who saw a fire truck coming and cut from left into my lane between me and a Ride On bus to avoid pulling over —just as the ride on bus was coming to a stop. It ate up the space I’d carefully left between me and the bus, forcing me to slam on my brakes. The person behind me then tapped my rear bumper. |
| Drivers who are too good to make a complete stop and a stop sign. I live in NW DC and 90% of the people do not stop even though kids and people are crossing everywhere. Drives me insane. |
Yup. I don't want to revoke the licenses of drivers who annoy other drivers. I want to revoke the licenses of drivers who endanger pedestrians, bicyclists, bus riders, and other motorists. So, number 1 reason to revoke a license: using your phone while driving. And number 2: driving faster than the speed limit. Also: not actually stopping before turning right on red, not actually stopping at a stop sign, passing another driver stopped for a pedestrian or bicyclist in a crosswalk, and only looking left when turning right (failure to exercise due care). |
How do you “accidentally” run a red light? Sound like distracted driving to me. |
|
Left lane lingerers. Left lane is only for passing. If you can’t pass in reasonable time then just keep your position in the right lane.
|
Agree with this one! I see this so often that I’m quite convinced that there are millions of drivers out there routinely turning “right on red” who were never taught that you are required to stop first! |
+1000 Nobody accidentally runs a red light if they’re paying attention. |
|
Agree with revoking licenses for things that endanger pedestrians and bicyclists. I’d also add things that endanger lawful drivers. Not just annoying but endanger.
About 95% of us wouldn’t have drivers licenses anymore and we probably all think we’d be in that 5%. It might actually be a good thing. |
One more thing: if drivers make up a rule and criticize you for it. Boom, license gone. You need to know the rules of the road if you’re going to drive a car in public. |
It’s called a zipper merge and it’s how you’re supposed to do it. |
+1 It’s more efficient. |
