eh.. sometimes they runaway because they don't like the rules, which are not always "strict", or they had a disagreement with the parent.

Sounds like the parents were truely abusive. She was given a tracfone instead of an iPhone.

The phone point was for tracking purposes.

Happy households don’t have runaways

What I dont like is the *intertia* to get resources mobilized when someone disappears. There's nobody moving quickly. Someone could be 5 states away in the time it takes to get the word out.

Or her parents should.

I don’t know the circumstances of why she went missing, and I don’t care. But speaking as someone (just one of many) who searched woods and city parks in the dark last night, I do not feel the family owes me or our community anything. Her safe return was my only concern. The family has expressed gratitude for the community’s efforts and that is more than enough for me.

I am also a neighbor who did the same and I feel nothing but grateful for her safe return.

Not necessarily. Teenagers aren't exactly known for their rational thinking. When I was a teen my best friend ran away because her parents gave her a curfew (gasp). Fortunately, she ran to my house, and my mom called her mom to tell her my friend was safe, and she spent a few nights with us.

No idea what happened in this case, just don't think it's necessarily fair to jump to accusations of abuse without any other information.

Kids run away for different reasons, it’s not always about abuse. A friend’s daughter went missing years ago. She’s in her late 20s now. Long story short she she just wanted to be with her boyfriend. She was gone for a few days he was a little older and her parents did not like him.

Yes they do especially when children are adopted out of abuse or from orphanages.

Have you adopted a child from an orphanage at the age of 5? Do you have foster children?

Note: This is what good people do.

My best friend ran away so she could have sex with her boyfriend. Her parents were not abusive.
