Hopefully the school or social services follow up. Parenting classes and/or therapy.

I also wonder about this. What caused her to run away?

There was a kid in our neighborhood who ran away. Years later, it ended up coming out that the mom had some major issues. Not saying that is the case here, but maybe worth a look as to what caused her to run away.

Please explain?

I’m glad she was found safe. Hope the family gets the help they need.

Dont you know? You're not allowed to ask questions, or wonder, or draw inferences, or give opinions. You have to care, and pitch in to help, and then just go away and not ask questions when she, thankfully, arrives home safely after 24 hours.

Shocker.

I am not trying to be coldhearted but I am not the least bit surprised. I am so glad she is safe.

eh.. sometimes they runaway because they don't like the rules, which are not always "strict", or they had a disagreement with the parent.

We have a friend or two in common, although I don't personally know the family. Pretty sure there is a more complicated story here involving adoption etc. I'm no expert, but kids run away for many kinds of reasons. Not always because the parents are doing terrible things.

Or her parents should.

I don’t know the circumstances of why she went missing, and I don’t care. But speaking as someone (just one of many) who searched woods and city parks in the dark last night, I do not feel the family owes me or our community anything. Her safe return was my only concern. The family has expressed gratitude for the community’s efforts and that is more than enough for me.

Sounds like the parents were truely abusive. She was given a tracfone instead of an iPhone.
