Please share.

Missing from the West End Park neighborhood of Rockville, MD. Last seen wearing black leggings & a gray hoodie this morning 11/12. She did not make it to school.

There was a girl reported missing a few weeks ago from Loiderman (I believe)? She was luckily found safe and sound a few days later. Hoping the same thing happens here.

Police say they are treating it as “runway”, nothing on the news, nothing from MCPS officially. Choppers are overhead tonite in west end Rockville.

Isn’t this what Amber Alerts are for?

Amber alerts are for when someone has been abducted.

Thousands of teens runaway every year. It isn't unusual. Thankfully the vast majority of them are found pretty fast either they head back home or are at friends houses or they turn up somewhere.

Thanks for clarifying. I was also wondering about this.

When the Aspen Hill girl went missing, there were no choppers, etc. Wonder if the police have some additional knowledge in this particular case.

I’m in the neighborhood. She’s still missing.

It looks like comments from this thread have "disappeared" which is really strange.??

I posed the question....how can someone "disappear" on their way to school, and the police just assume it is not an abduction?

When you file a missing persons report, it sadly takes FOREVER to get ANYTHING to happen. Imagine having your kid just vanish and nobody does anything.

What exactly ARE the circumstances where and Amber Alert is issued? Do you have to actually witness the violent rendition of someone?

Because, sadly, sometimes kids just run away. From what I recall of all the Amber Alerts, there is usually a description of the car that was used to kidnap the child, or a description of the kidnapper.

It is on the news, but no police interview. The police must have evidence of a contentious parent-child relationship for them not to believe it was an abduction.

I thought searching the neighborhood was kind of weird and unorganized. She’s obviously not walking around Rockville in this weather. She’s at someone’s house.

Most likely, yes, but you would think the adult at home would alert someone, unless she's in a home where the adult has no kids, if you know what I mean.

A 13-year-old is missing, and you post your speculations about the parent-child relationship.

For shame.

Meaning she left willingly, quite common.

Not for shame. Someone in some sort of authority clearly believes this was not an abduction, or it would be treated FAR differently than it is. You do realize that making sure there is not a danger to the broader community is also one of the police's jobs, right?

Since all we have is vague info, people tend to draw inferences.
